13B-T in N/A w/o turbo
Is it possible to power a n/a rx-7 with a jdm 13b-Turbo engine without the turbo? For example, instead of an engine rebuild, drop in a jdm motor to replace it since it seems jdm engines are cheaper than a rebuild.

it will be a really weak *** engine, the compression on the 13bt motors are lower then the na motor's so they can handle boost. a 13bt with no turbo is a SLOW motor... I wouldn't do it.

Yup, the boost solenoid on my 91 is disconnected due to no factory ECU.
I'm seeing with my hellish clogged cats around 2-3PSI @ WOT 3-4-5.
It's as slow as a Hyundai...or worse.

I agree...the compression is horribly low (thank God they didn't do that to the FD). You would really have to do a lot to get some real compression out of that motor...thus you have no power (well not nearly enough). If you wanna run with Hyundais (and I don't mean Tiburon GT V6s either...) then go for it, otherwise avoid at all costs.

To answer you question yes it is possible. The only thing is you would have to decide, is on the induction. Easy way would be header, distributor and a carburetor. There are many different ways of approaching the situation but it is possible. But like the people said before me with the lower compression rotors you would be at a disadvantage.
