13b-re on its way.... next item up ecu?? whats the best?

ok so i just got off the phone with an asian man whos kind enough to ship out an engine,

now to deal with a few more issuse b4 this can qasi-come tougether.

the motor will bolt up to my 5spd trans, with a few minor things to concern, the whole tq converter flywheel issue, im shure id end up figureing it out, but if any bodys got pointers, post em up.

second, id like to skip out on all the bull-**** and go with a single turbo, and i would like to hear ideas as far as manifolds go, i know hks has one for the 13b-rew, but will it fit the re?

and R.E. amemiya makes one also but i dont have a price, thats pretty much all i could come up with?

ECU issuse is a big deal to me, this cars gotta be fully tuneable, my last ride was an 02 and had an obd II port so with the help of a lab-top it was soon fully hacked and tuned to every bit of code.

i will be lucky enough to skip out on all the trans tuneing on this car given its not auto, but which ecu is best (not easyiest to install or cost friendly) BEST

ive head the haltech ex6 is an option but which outhers, as well as this one do all of you have experiance with.

and i would like to not have to make my own motor mounts for this swap, which i could, but ive heard talk of pre-fabbed 89n/a to jdm 13b-re mounts, can ne body confirm this?

ill get into cooling systems later, my first priority is to get this motor in and ecu wired and start the damn thing,

cuz its going off to my buddys to get a bad *** paint job in about 14 days, and i like to drive it there, not trailer it.

guys, and girls (if any even drive fc's)ideas please

i have a 13bre on mu t2. i used the oilpan from my t2 and taped the centerplate to fit the original motor mount. also banzai racing has them prefrabricated for about 250. if you use and aftermarket flywheel withe the automatic counterewight it will fit your 13bre. i personaly have the wolf3d . also the hks cast manifold for the 13brew will fit for a single turbo set up as long as you get a custom down pipe. if any questions just pm me

Im using an os gilkin clutch / flywheel combo with an cw that is the same as FD's iirc

I belive it will, im using an FC tubular mani and fits fine, other than the wastegate being extremlty close to the motormount, an easy cut and reweld on the mount and i was fine

standalone, choose one that you have local support for, thers a whole EMS subforum on this site

Any EMS that can run a 2 rotor rotary will work fine on a RE, i use a Wolf, i know of someone who runs a microtech, haltech, link, megasquirt etc etc will all work

and i would like to not have to make my own motor mounts for this swap, which i could, but ive heard talk of pre-fabbed 89n/a to jdm 13b-re mounts, can ne body confirm this?
japan2la on this site use to make mounts, also banzi racing sells them, probably more

just buy an aftermarket radiator and use the stock fan for now. i tried using a stock rad but car ran stupid hot. Also your gong to want to swap in a s4 or s5 water pump and housing, the re usnit is huge

i agree use some type of em that has local support. i personaly use the wolf3d v4 plug n play for the s4 t2, 91 waterpump and s4 front cover and premix.

MoTeC M2R ftw... designed for the rotary. I believe that would be the best if you keep your setup simple enough as there aren't as many outputs as some of the more expensive Motecs

I'm using the Motec M4/M2R on my 13BRE. Its been great and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Motec may not be local but they're customer service and support is much better than any other.

I've played with Microtech LT8 and Haltech E6K and E6X, and neither one could compare to the Motec in EMS, tuning, and customer service.

Just use a 5sp flywheel and counterweight instead of the auto flywheel and torque converter.

Just buy the motor mounts. Its easier. I got mine from Japan2LA and they bolted right up.

Any single turbo setup for an FC or FD should work on the 13BRE. Seeing how the RE is a mix between an S5 TII motor and FD motor, almost any setup should work.

Here is a project page with pics of our entire TII, then 13b-re conversion to our 91 vert.

I agree with Mel and the rest of those guys. Wolf3D is the way to go, the new models are rivaling the nicer MoTeCs in terms of expandibility and functionality.

I'm sorry, but cost aside, I don't think the Wolf even close to being on par with the Motec. 22 fully mappable outputs on the Motec. It can run the electric OMP, 4 coils, 4 injectors, 1 wastegate, electric fan, Wide Band Lambda and still have 7 outputs left over.
