13B-RE into TII?

ok i posted this in the rotary performance section, and im gonna try my luck here, seeing as how i have a 2nd gen...

ok, before i start...i have searched on this topic already, but i need some more info.
ive been to rx7turbo.com, but the site is all messed up, and half hte stuff works.
with that out of the way...let me get to my question(s).
from what i have gathered, the 13b-re mounts the same way as the FC, but i will most likely have problems with the turbos (hopefully not)
has anyone else done this swap, or are there more pages i can get info on this conversion? any help would be appreciated.

oh yea, i know about the K2RD mounts...thanx to kurgan for that info

i think someone has done the swap, just can't think of anyone off hand, i think Greg is putting one into his FC dragster, and I know AJC13B has one in his RX-7 but it's a first gen.

it will fit....but itll take lots of custom made pieces. I think 2 people on this forum have done that.

Slap the engine in and make it a single Turbo, a big one performs better than two sequential turbos. Remember the 3rd gen is Twin BUT they are sequential (One depends on the other) Unlike the 300ZX and the Supra which have two separate Turbos. Just Put a Turbonetics T series in there... Use your new engine with the TII mount...

so do i need the $430 motor mounts from K2RD?
ive heard that it mounts into the stock location (which is why the RE is easier to do than a REW), and ive also heard that it doesnt...can anyone confirm this? has anyone had any experience with this?

i have done this swap. the k2rd mounts work perfect. you will have to modify the turbo discharge pipe and the intake pipe for it to fit under the hood. you will also have to modify the water discharge neck. you have plenty of room with the stock twins in there. a 13REW with its stock twins DO fit in there you just cannot use the stock downpipe. I don't think anyone sells the mounts for a REW to be installed in an fc chassis. The benefit of the k2rd mounts is that they can also mount a 20b. These were the only MECHANICAL mods.

If you go to my website you'll see it installed.

im looking to do it myself at school, cause we get to use the shop anytime we want. is there anything i should do before the motor goes in?

If you got a TII engine all you need to do is just swap all the mounts on to the new one.

sweet! so now i can save the $430 on mounts. now i have 2 other questions...since they only came as automatics, would i have any problems bolting it up to my TII tranny? and the other question is can i use the stock FD ECU instead of the RE ecu until i can get a haltech?
thanx so much btw

I don't know why Angel Guard Racing Team said that, but it's not a drop-in install with the stock Cosmo engine mounts.&nbsp You'll need to fabricate SOMETHING or go with the K2RD adapters.

now i have 2 other questions...since they only came as automatics, would i have any problems bolting it up to my TII tranny?
The Cosmo engine will most likely come with a counterweight and flexplate.&nbsp Get ANY aftermarket (lightened) flywheel and use the counterweight with it - this will bolt right up to your tranny.

and the other question is can i use the stock FD ECU instead of the RE ecu until i can get a haltech?
You CANNOT use the Cosmo stock ECU; the stock Cosmo ECU is integrated with the stock automatic transmission, so unless you know how to fool the stock Cosmo transmission into thinking and automatic transmission is still there - forget it.&nbsp A stock FD 13B-REW ECU isn't going to work either since the controls are all wrong, and the sequential twin-turbo system is different also...

Yeah the best drop in motor for the FC, hands down, is the

Twin Rotor Cosmo. This is on behalf of Jeff at Rotary Power. He sold a couple to Abel Ibarra and I'm getting one as well for my dragger turbo2. Way easier than a FD or 20B.

Rishie

If you want a motor let me know, I'll talk to Jeff.

www.mazdadragracing.com is kinda expensive aint they?

74-85 12A Turbo.......$1,000 87-88 13B Turbo......$1,200 89-91 13B Turbo.......$1,500 93-95 T-Turbo US.....$2,200
74-88 13B Non Turbo$1,000 89-91 13B Non Turbo$1,100 93-95 T-Turbo Japan.$2,100 92-95 3 Rotor Turbo $4,200

Screw that, and www.corksport.com Dunno if I sounded like a hick with no money, but they kinda treated me like ****. All I asked for a picture of the motor they were gonna send me, LIKE HELL im gonna pay 1800 for something I have never seen... Screw that...They never sent a picture and started acting like ********, I could IMAGINE if I actually bought one from them! I had my VISA check card in my hand and ready for a purchase. OH well guess corksport will never get my business Just forget everything else and go with the best buy from joe or dave at www.fc3s.org

My 2 cents there
