Unhappy 13b injection troubles

Right from the start I need to tell you I do not own an rx7. I own a 1957 Volkswagen bug. Now here is were my story get exciting. My VW currently is powered by a 12a. I installed this motor about 2 years ago and has a racing beat 45 dcoe side draft on it with about 6 ft of length in exhaust running through a borla xr1 race muffler. I hate this setup. Carbs suck. I want fuel injection. I also have two 13b from a 88' rx7. These are not turbo motors, they are N.A.,. I have all the electrical from the car including the smog, but my car is a 57, it doesnt have to smog. Here is my question. In order to use the stock FI will I have to use all the smog in order for the computer to function properly. If I dont have to what sensors will I need.
Also I dont have to smog this car so what kinds of nasty, polluting performace trick should I preform that most people can't because of there cars. Please I need help I want to go really fast.

For any one who wants to see pictures of the car my webpage is http://hometown.aol.com/vwovalrag56/...e/profile.html

Thanks for all your help

You can stripp all the smog stuff off.. But you can not use the 13B 6 port intake on a 12A.. You will need to drop in the 13B to use the injection..

Another option would be to buy a EFI TB for your current manifold and a aftermarket EMS..

This will cost you a bit more though..

You can lose most everything but the TPS, O2 sensor, and the AFM.

45's are recommended for stockports. I have one on my 12A.

That's a very cool setup!

The for wacky swaps, the guys in the "other rotary" section seem to be pretty good at knowing how to do the sort of project you've undertaken. (not that the 2nd gen forum isn't good too)

Thankyou for the replies I have gotten already. In reading them I relized that I had made a typo in my original post. I have a 12a in my car right now, but I have two 13b's, one from an '88 and one from an '89, that I would like to replace the 12a with. And I dont know if I will need to use the smog with the fuel injection on the 13b.

Also, what hp tricks would you recommend on a N.A. 13b with stock injection?
Thanks for all your help.

When I read it I thought you meant engines, then I saw the replies and thought I was a functional illiterate again. No smog required. Must be an interesting exaust you have there. Your gonna need a higher pressure fuel pump, but you probably know that already. I'd think you'd need the boost/pressure sensor, tps, water thermo sensor, air temp sensor on the intake, air fuel meter, some kind of K and N filter. Shouldn't be too hard on the wiring. I put a N326 ECU in a 82 with 86 coils, pressure/boost sensor, wired to the 82 tps. Yeah, I know the ignition maps are all wrong etc. Was fun anyway. Oh yeah, one thing that would help you a lot, is to download the factory manual, and look in the fuel section. It has a section called CONTROL UNIT, and it tells you what each pin on the ECU is for. That coupled with the wiring diagrams in the electrical section can hellp you wire only the wires that are needed for your project. http://iluvmyrx7.com under manuals for a 88. Same basicaly as a 86/87.
