Here's the factory service manual.
Download it for free and you're all set.

changing the belts is super simple, the only trick on an FC is that the fan can stay on and you weave the belts thru it. so literally you need a 12, 14, 17, and i think 19mm wrenches, and a 10, 12 and maybe 14mm sockets

two kinds of power steering pumps is the only thing that I can think of.
I know that you linked the info to Mazdatrix but really, you can get the belts at any auto parts store.( I got mine at NAPA)
Maybe that would save you a hassle if you ordered from Madzatrix and the belt was the wrong one??

I'd prefer Oem grade though right? I mean i hear bad things when getting them from generic places. But ill look into it.

Remove your worn belts. Label them.

Go to an Auto Parts store. Ask them for replacements. I use Dayco, you can also get Goodyear Gatorback.

Check the new belts vs the old belts for length.

Pay for your belts.

Go home.

Put on the belts.

Drive.

Repeat yearly.

STicky!!!!!

Wow, this really isn't a difficult task. It's belts for Christ's sake. I admire your drive, and I guess you're like me and hate taking your car to someone else when you can do it yourself.

Get a Haynes manual from the parts store. While you're there, get all the belts. I've never ran into 2 different belts for PS before, and I'm sure you'll figure out which one you have soon enough. There is only ONE... ONE BRAND of belt to buy. Do NOT buy Dayco, Gatorback, or whatever other BS brand with their little gimmicky crap. ONE BRAND. Gates. That is the only brand you will ever buy for any aftermarket belt.

Then change the belts.

You'll do just fine. The hardest task I found was to get the belts off from around the fan.The shroud is a little close but you can snake the belt off,one blade at a time. While holding the belt,Put the belt in between the blades and spin, until you can do another blade, and it will come off and out.

I always took the fan off- it's only four bolts after all- until one day I took the fan off, put in an efan and avoided the issue forevermore.

So i would call this job a success!

EXCEPT that i broke a bolt on the power steering pulley. That holds the sliding adjuster.

So i went to a ton of a stores and i couldnt find the bolt because it was rediculously long.

lmao! the parts listing is weird! they list a bolt to adjust the PS belt for a car without ps...

anyways there are 3 part numbers

N326-15-966 which is 9" long for $21.47

N327-15-966 which is 6" long for $11.99

and 9979-50-960 which seems like it'll be the wrong part, but $2.85...

Belt question...

So I have an 89 fc3s and just changed my belts. We think we got one that is alittle too small, because we had alot of resistance getting it on. Now that its on its suuuper tight, and the tensioner wont loosen anymore. we ran it and there werent any problems, but the car seemed to idle alittle low. I have an SAFC APEXI in it, and it usually idols at like 700-800rpm and when we ran it just now it was idoling at like 600. will it loosen and not be a problem after driving it? Or should I put the old one back in and get a slightly bigger one from the store?
