That doesn't work. I tried that originally. What actually occurs is that the pull of the belt will not positively locate the saddle mount. If the arrangement were set as you described, the saddle will just 'pop out'. It then ends up just where DaveC and I are putting it.
You also need to have the pivot bolt in basically the same or greater distance from the adjusting arm since a: the alternator is larger than stock and b: the adjusting arm is limited by contact with the CAS. It's a tight fit.

Can we try again on the year, I'm missing something,.
I checked Rockauto.com's catalog, and the only years that look the same are 1991-1992 and 1993 (Different part numbers; don't know the diff, but they appear to be the same).
In addition, their pictures all show a pulley for serpentine belt. Did you swap the v-belt pulley off your OEM alternator?

i'm thinking about doing an alternator(110 amp) from a 95 Mazda millenia (dont know how to spell it) i'm using the v pulley from a 94 Nissan truck. Bolts up and lines up with factory belt and bracket but i'm not sure what the third wire does yet. So far i think its a remote wire for the alternator but since i work at a parts store i'll do more testing on the machine to make sure b4 i put it in the car. (88 rx7 gxl) The 6 cylinder millenia
