i wouldnt mind taking al look at your set up... ive been wanting a system for a while now, i have a few good ideas but my main concern of course is the added weight, and the fact that it has to be as clean as possible (somewhat of a factory look) .... anyway lets see what you thought up!

with the distance from the trunk to the cab of the car you cant hear any rattles at all, just clean sounding bass, almost if the car itself acts like a dampner or something.

ill agree with you on the trunk and how nice it sounds. Ive got an alpine s 8 in its factory bandpass box in the trunk of mine and it sounds incredible. People think ive got a 12 or something. And it sounds even better with the top down for some reason! Good job.

hey does the controller on the center console still work with your aftermarket cd player for the headrest speakers?

when i got my car, the prev owner wired the headrest speakers again himself and right to the cd player.

when i put my pioneer in, we just wired it up like it was previously done but the controlls on the center console dont affect the headrest speakers at all.

so i guess my question is, do you think it is possible to re wire the headrest speakers to the controller.? im thinking that if i CAN be done, its probably going to be a wiring nightmare.

havent tried it, but i did look at it. your going to somehow get one of the stock amps to 1 power on, 2 accept output from an aftermarket cd player, and 3 get all that wired up nice and neat, its very possable but in my opinon not worth the time, especially for 15watt max speakers that are very easily 15yrs old or more and probibly will sound like a cat screaming in your ears. if you dont have them already, after market components in the doors, take the 'subwoofers' out of behind the seats and get some Q logic 6x9 boxes with some aftermarket 6x9's and i personally like 12's but 10's and 8's do fine as well and throw one of those in the trunk. i think that, that setup is more worth the time and sweat.

When i put my cdplayer in i had to bypass all that controls on the console for the speakers to all work properly.

I just got the alpine h/u that you have and It wont push my sub at all. I have a 10in RF with a 200w amp that used to hit really hard(louder than my friend's 12s) with my eclipse headunit but wont do anything with this alpine. I have the bass all the way up, and the sub volume all the way up but you can barely hear it (defeat is off)... any tips for getting more out of it or should I just put the eclipse back in (don't really want to spend more on bigger amp/ diff sub)?

check your grounds, connections, espcially battery and amp power, make sure if applicable that your amp is on low pass selection, but it sounds like a weak ground to me. 200W amps dont need much power, check to make sure you put the audio cables on the very bottom output of the head unit.

if you go to the link i posted you can see that i fed the power wire through the drivers side boot where the wiring harness for the interior of the car goes, i used a coat hanger and bent it straight, poked it through from the inside, cripmed the wire to the coat hanger and was really, REALLY careful about pulling the wire through, worked great and quick. its in the far corner on the firewall. check the pictures, you'll get it.

back when i had my sho i had an alpine unit and the sub control was disapointing. I got it to work but it wasnt as clean as i wanted. I then upgraded to the pioneer i think its the 6700( the one with the dolphins) and the sound quality between the 2 isnt even funny. That pioneer put the alpine to shame. I like the pioneer so much that when i sold my sho i put a cheap deck in the sho and put my pioneer in my rx7. I love that deck.

But it sounds like a ground to me. I know this is a dumb question but does your deck have the sub control? Most alpines have both normal bass and treble controls and then if you push the volume **** then the sub control pops up and you can turn it up there. If you already said that i apoligize i didnt read that far.

yeah, he said he put the bass boost and sub control all the way up. it has to be a ground. or possibly a loose cold solder connection in the amp, do you usually mount your amp to the box or in a seperate location. i mount mine to the box but wouldnt be suprised if one day it crapped out on me.

the new alpines seem to be a bit better than the pioneers now a days, i bought a pioneer deck about a year ago, forgot the model number but it was the one where you can bridge the rear channel for a 70W output for a small sub, anyways, i had it powering two polk GXR 12's (cheap) in a band pass with the same amp you see in the pix, 300W rms 400W max. they sounded great. but the alpine hooked in the same way seemed to have more acutally kick to it and less of the slightly higher range bass sounds, i guess its just what you like.

I think my audio cables are on the top output... I'll try moving them to the bottom...

I had a pioneer h/u (not too expensive but not the low end models) and I absloutely hated it. ..the sound quality was terrible... so I traded it to my brother for his 3 year old eclipse headunit... which is awesome... but I wanted something that had an integrated sat. radio function... so I got the alpine... and It has good sq it just wont push my sub... So I will check everything you guys suggested.
Thanks!

not to change the subject, but back to your setup, you can save almost all of your trunk space, as well as hide your valuables nicely if u mount your amps and copassiters (bad spelling sorry) and EQ stuff under the carpet that comes up the back of the trunk....erg its porolyl diferent for a vert since the top prolly slides down in that space....but moving on, you can also save room by makin a custom fiberglass box out og the two holes behind the front seat where the +2 seats would go.....i managed to fit 2 18" Earthquakes in my 87 and had 2 1000 watt amps 1 500 watt and 2 tripple caps totally hidden. The second battery however was just stuck behind the passanger seat......

I'm making a fiberglass-bottom enclosure that will go in the area behind the drivers seat (under the cover). It will hold a JL 10W3. I'll be taking pics of the install and will post when finished.

i would love to see pics of what you're talking about ^. I am thinking about making a false floor enclosure in the trunk in place of the spare tire.

this is kindof off topic, but can you guys tell me what size speaker is in the door of my 89 vert? im guessing is a 5 1/4..?

-therotaryrocket85, i love your car, its the exact same as mine, except mine is a 89. what do you use to get your convertable top so shiny?
