10th An

Just talked to a dealer who says he has a 10th an with 53000K on it and in mint cond. One question, he claims that the car came without a/c and did not even have a/c an option - I've looked at two other 10th an cars and they both had stock a/c - is this a typical dealer bullshit thing - trying to make out that a missing feature makes the car original - or he giving me the straight poop?

He's got to be lying. 10th AE's all came fully loaded.

pssh...all AE's had AC. In fact the AE didn't have any options because it came with everything. I don't get it; is the button actually missing or is the AC just not working?

88 Turbo II is not the same as the 10th AE Turbo II. Mabey that's where he's confused.

Did the add read "10th aniversery year" turbo II or some other misleading add?

AC was standard on all 1988 GXL's and T2's including the 10thanniv. Look for the obvious signs, fender badges, steering wheel and shift **** with 10th Anniv emblem.

Lastly, since you can add these things trim items easily, I'd say if you don't have the window sticker to link the VIN, it could be a fake.

Have you seen the car? Just ask him what color interior it has, might say some other color. Never know. Prolly just an 88 and he thinks they all are AEs.

The car is definately a 10th An - dealer claims they bought it new, registered it in the dealer name and have only summer driven it since then - I don't get why it wouldn't have a/c as it was also my understanding that these cars had every possible option - anyway going to take a look at the beast on Mon coming - will let you know.

I've done quite a bit of research on this subject and I estimate that there are fewer than 300 of these in drivable condition and even fewer in the hands of enthusiasts. There may be more that are trashed. This forum is going to obviously attract enthusiasts and owners of these cars. The only way we will ever know is if all the 10th AE owners register their cars at the following sites:

http://2ndgenrx7.freeservers.com/10thregistry.html
or
http://www.k2rd.com/reg.html

As a side note if any 10th AE owners are interested, I have access to reproduction mats. They are not cheap! They run $250 a pair and with Christmas coming up, it takes my supplier 4-6 weeks to make them. As someone once said, there is some R&D in these. They are extremely high quality. E-mail me if interested. You can see a picture on the related links page of my website (at the bottom of the page)

Cheers!

This going to sound weird to you guys, But my 10th AE does not have A/C and it was not removed.

I bought the car from the original owner with 66 000 miles on it. He said he had to $1200 to the dealer for it to be installed.

It has P/S bracket only, no bracket on fire wall for A/C line, no condensor brackets, none of the electrical wires for A/C etc...
I compared to my 86 GXL with A/C.

10th anniv.

i dont want to sound like i'm repeating everybody else.... but i know for a fact that 1988 RX7 Turbo II 10th Anniversary Edition came with every option loaded... can't even choose a color... not that i dont love the monochromatic white..... i guess you can do two things, check the VIN number or see if the key has the 10th Anniv. Ed. emblem.....

Hey 3 Rotor.... i've checked your Turbo II with 3 rotors.... how much did that Mariah package cost you? I know i can't afford it.. but i'm just curious..

I paid $5000.00 for mine back in Feb. it had a fairly new engine(20k mi) and some mods... and had not been driven in months.... great condition.... at the moment, it's getting another engine in.... internal oil leak on a 8000mi old engine..... no one seems to know what could have caused it.... i'm thinking the oil could have gotten too hot or something... since my cooling system is stock... radiator, oil cooler, etc.... ne ideas?

I bought the car in it's entirety - as a finished project. I am very happy with the deal - I'll leave it at that.
