BTW he didnt ask about an aero kit he asked about ground effects

just wondering what you guys all thought about putting the 10th Ae ground effects on an fc that isnt 1oth ae??..
Thats why I was thinking he was talking about the front lower bumper panel or skirt, and two multi piece side skirt panels.

There will be a small hole in the front lower part of the rear inner fender near where aero kit mounts to the rear if it had the kit.

Also there are three tabs under the body that may or may not have screws in them. They often are plugged with dirt if the kit has been off for a while. These will be in just past the underbody seam.

Here is a worn out set, you can see the mounting hole locations (except for where it mounts to the front of the rear inner fenders):

and here is one of the front ones:

Now interesting enough, digging further on this, I have one 10thAE factory picture that clearly shows both front and rear panels, yet I also have a picture on page 85 of "A Sports Car Color History- Mazda RX-7", that the rear spoilers are most certainly are not on it. Perhaps the rear panels/spoilers were dropped mid-way through the 10thAE production or were some sort on On again Off again item through the 1500 or so 10th AEs made.

I see.

The only time I saw these reverse mud flats for lack of description was in Czech Republic on one of higgi's friends car. never ever say them before.

Another item I only saw once was molded mud flaps on a 10th AE.

Molded mud flaps were a Mazda Finishline dealer option as well as a common aftermarket item in the 80s.

I only assumed there was a ground kit, because there are only 2 10ae's that i've ever seen where i'm from, and they both have a really nice suttle factory ground effects kit. a nice small from air damn, a really nice piece that goes on the back and some very nice side skirts.... who knows...

I'll standby my statements about the 87 and 88 Turbos. According to the book RX-7 Mazda's Rotary Engine Sports Car by Brian Long the 87 Turbo was supposed to come with the aero kit like I said. To quote the book: "a rear spolier was not fitted in the early publicity material- even the catalogue failed to mention it in the specifications- although the 3 piece aerodynamics kit naturally came standard on the high-speed production turbocharged models."

I think this relates to build date. I'll think that early 87 Turbos produced in late 86 or early 87 do not have the Aero kit but cars produced closer to the 88 year change over do have the kit. Can we test this idea out?

I also have never seen a 10th anniversary with the rear wheel deflector pieces, though the cars may have the front deflectors that I did not notice. Maybe Mazda left off the rear wheel deflectors to retain the monochromatic look? All other 88 Turbos definately have those rear pieces.

Brian is often wrong.

#1 the S4 aero kit has a total of 7 pieces. Infront of each wheel, a integrating piece under the front bumper, a rear spoiler and a ground effect metal panel under the car. Perhaps by three piece kit he is thinking the aero panels on the front bumper as those would only be three peices (but again they do not even appear on the parts list for the Turbo in 87).

#2 the 87 turbo didn't with a rear spoiler either. Again, the rear rubberized spoiler was available as a dealer add on, but a rear spolier was not even an option even on the 87.5 US spec cars.

On the subject of 10AEs and rice... I want one of the rotor embelms from the side... does anyone have a closeup shot? No, I don't intend to put them on mine, I just want one, perhaps to decorate something else, like a keychain?
