What they neglect to mention is that you should also take out a college fund as if it were a newborn babe.

Well, back when these cars actually were newborn babes, they were pretty darn reliable.

Agreed though that you might need that college fund now that the car is actually old enough to enroll in college, even if only to cover the costs of all the preventative maintenance that you might like to do. For such old cars, they actually have potential to be quite reliable if, as they say, you "keep your interest in good maintenance."
