I am looking at buying a 1987 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II
Black in color!
Interior color: Light Grey
Options : Cruise Control, CD Player, Bucket Seats, Sunroof, AM/FM Stereo, Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Power Mirrors, Tinted Glass, Tilt Steering, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Brakes

It has 111,000km's on the car but only 13,000km's on a brand spanking new engine!

He wants 9,600cnd for the car!
Is it too much?

 

What is that in USD? I think around $6000, right? Thats about double what you should be paying.

 

Well it depends on how much you love RX-7's. I paid $9,800 for my 91' TII it has 97,000 on the car and less than 20,000 on the motor and turbo. But you try finding a 89-91' turbo II that hasn't been modified. How is the body on the car? I would give him no more than 6k for it but that is me.

 

6000 cdn seems more appropriate.

 

Yeah... I'm looking at one for $6500 (asking)... I think thats even a little high, however I'm still prolly gonna get it. BUT... only because its got 34K on everything... I'll tell you, new motors aren't everything. My last one had a new motor, but the rest of the car had some pretty high milage. If Canada is anything like Wisconsin, you're potentially looking at other problems (rust, corroded wires, etc... ) my car spent more time in that garage then on the road. Just my opinion. Be careful.

 

Never spend more than $5k USD on a lightly modded TII. Anything more than that is a rip off!!

 

The body is in ecellent condition and well I am GOING to buy a turbo II but they are hard to find without having to replace half of the parts! this one is in fairly good condition!here is a pic!

To me that looks like a pretty good TII. But remember it is a S4 and you should not pay over $3000 USD and that is with some sort of new engine with papers(warranty). But on the other hand, anything is worth whatever you are willing to pay yourself, not what someone else tells you. In the end, its your decision, but I wouldn't pay that much.

That is WAY TOO MUCH!!!!! you can find a good one for half that much. A guy on my street bought an 87 T2 with 104,000 kms in mint condition (turbo was siezed though 400 dollar repair) for 3200Can. The car was one of the cleanest FC's I'ver ever seen.

 

Pay about bluebook value for a 87-88 TII, unless it has a shitload of mods or is VERY low-mileage. The 89-91 TII's usually fetch a price higher than bluebook, due to the fact that they're rarer and a bit more desirable to the RX-7 community.
