1/4 times for stock n/a

Hey guys:

I just got a convertible, 5-speed a few weeks ago. Does anyone know what a good estimate of the 1/4 mile time is? I know it is a slow car...16's maybe?

Thanks

Brent

My 87 NA sport will pull a 15.0 in the 1/4 and a 10.0 in the 1/8. the convertible is heavier so yea probably low 16's but the verts make great cruisers that turn heads so you dont have to be fast just cool

Uh, you gotta be kidding me.
Unless you're John Force, you're not going to get 2.0 60' times...

Stock NA would usually pull a *17*.
A stock convertible would probably do a *18* if not slower.

I've seen typically modded NA's (intake, exhaust) run mid 16's back in Hawaii.

I'd really like to see a Sport do a 15-flat STOCK!&nbsp A Turbo II can't even go that fast stock!

my buddy and I just came back from the local drags (his first time) he only has a catback, racepipe and a K&N. He had two runs and the best time he could get was 18.0. Another 88 rx7 there however was ran a 15.4 (he also had a limited slip and removed air pump, msd ignition, electric fan and a header.

I think the biggest problem my friend had was that he could not get traction in the start unless he only kept the rmp's to 4000.

Arent stock numbers 16.1? How the heck do they get those time with 185's on the rear when my friend can't even get it with 225's.

Wow! What an eye opener! I ran a 19 @71mph (91 degrees, 90%humidity). I didn't drive the car right at all. I slipped the clutch too much, and I think I overheated it. But I know it will not touch the 15.5 @ 91 my stock Neon will do. I didn't buy the car for speed, but this is rediculos! Oh well, at least it handles better than the Neon, and that is saying a lot. Oh yea, and it looks a HELL of a lot cooler .

So what are some good, cheap mods? Exhaust and intake? I was thinking about getting the adapter that someone suggested and putting a K&N cone on the TB. Looks like a bunch of people have Bonez "off road" pipes too, are these worth anything?

LOL, I definantly dont have traction problems! I think the tires are 205/60/15 or something like that. I can't get the tires to spin at all, which kind of amazes me that my 60' was 2.6. Oh yea, and I cant drive. Best 60 I ever got out of the neon was 2.4, and my buddy with almost the same car can turn a 2.2, and others 2.0x(on et streets).

Something is realy wrong with your car. My Blue 90, that had dirty fuel inj. and a semi blown up engine (cracked apex seal.) ran a best of 15.9@89mph. If the weather would of been better, i'm shure the car would of ran a 15.7 in the 90s. The new motor thats going in it will be street ported. At the same time i plan on putting T2 secondary inj. in it, along with a T2 mass air flow meter. Hopefully i can get around 190-200hp out of it. That would make a nice daily driver.

Hmm some of those time might have been cartest time, not actual track time. So your time might vary. As for the magazine time, same thing. Those guys dont get paid for driving for nothing. They can USUALLY pull a time that we cant do since the car is not theirs. They can drive it anyway they like. Is like trying to get a 15.7 in a Civic Si require clutch dropping of 7000rpm. You think people will try that on the street? I always thought my car will do low 16s, turns out my NA did high 16 to 17 flat. From what it seems, the earlier cars do better 1/4 time than the 89+, but slower trap speed. I would like to see people go to the track and see what they have and post their mods on the web

The Best I did was a 16.5 -- 86mph and thats on a modded 89 GTU I had my emissions off, though I just put it back on and think it runs faster with it on, you know the VDI and stuff

I have the following mods:

Cone filter (bonez, but brand REALLY isn't important) and HKS adapter. I built a cold air box, but I don't know how much that helps. I had an exhaust built for it, it goes to a 2.5" at the connection to the manifold, and 3" as soon as it makes the bend underneath. 3" high-flow cat and 3" muffler.

I picked up a FULL SECOND in the 1/8 with those mods, and a tiny bit of weight reduction (took out the spare, the passenger seat, and the jack)

I also have my 6-ports wired (ok, zip-tied...) open. This actually HURTS low end, and gains nothing on the top... but mine were not working, so I did this because I was too lazy to fix them.

My best 1/4 is 16.15 at 85 mph. Oh... it's an 88 convertible.
