theres no real correct answer here. most people will tell you to buy an s5 (89-91) tho. they do make like 20hp more in stock form.

yeah a series 5 turbo fc will be better than a s4, but only if you want it to be. they both got allot of potential so dont worry about specifics.

you can find the s4s for cheaper and put the money you save into it and that 20 hp difference wont matter then

i prefer the S4, thats why i own two S4 TII's. i prefer the look of the wheels and i despise the automatic shoulder belts. i prefer the mechanical omp over the S5's electronic omp..i like the S4 TII's twill seats.. S5 tail lights are nice..both have some ups and downs.

There's really not a huge performance between the 2, except S5s have higher compression ratios. If we're talking TIIs, I'd go with an S4 because they're cheaper (plus I think they look better). If you're going for an n/a, the S5 n/a's have a better intake system and higher compression ratio. But really... S4s FTW!!!

Yeah that really all it is. Once you do a couple mods any difference is pretty much negated.

An S5 may be a better car for a daily though, since it is newer and will probably have less problems.

^^ as a 10AE owner, i will reccomend this if you are not planning on bastardizing the car. 10AE's are a rare car that are getting harder and harder to find. IMO one should preserve their 10AE and own it and drive it for what it is. if you are looking to mod, then a standard S4 or S5 TII will suit you just fine.

you could do what i did; buy and S4 and then buy a s5 parts car then swap it all around so you have a s4 engine in a quasi s5 body.

i like s5 more, but i just happend to find a s4 first.

agreed....go with the best deal you can find (taking price and condition into account). for some reason, at least in my area, s4's seem more numerous and cheaper

IMO I perfer my 86 base..

no back seats, no bin buckets, manual windows, manumatic locks, moon roof 5spd.

but now I have doen the 5 lug swap, lsd T2 rear diff, turbo driveline..

as for body I say S4 with s5 tails I like the black mouldings.

There really isn't a better or worse. Get what you think looks best for the price range you have.

This is all so biased just about everyone here is saying to buy whatever they have. Get a GTX whatever year you want. I am probably the only one here with an s4 saying get an s5 tII.

I say you go for the top-of-the line, most expensive FC ever built; an OEM LHD TII Convertible...
