1) Seller is selling bullshit / counterfeit items which are ripping off trademarks like Mugen, AMG, Mazdaspeed, etc.

2) Crap is probably made in China and not from Japan, thus not JDM.

FAIL.

No such thing.
If the car is totally stock, there is no "kit" for a cold air intake.
A true cold air intake would require CUTTING the car up.

Are you willing to do that?

Dude....a cold air intake is not the magic bean to more horsepower. Replacing the stock air box with a cone filter will, at best only yield a small amount of addnl power. The best way to get more power quickly in an N/A is to replace the exhaust system. Racing Beat makes a great system for the RX7.

If you must replace the stock air box with a cone filter, then you should also fab a heat shield box around it to shut out hot engine bay air. Plus you should also probably provide a source of outside air which would mean you might have to cut some holes in the car.

Finally, do some searching and reading on this topic. It has been discussed ad nauseum.

You will almost assuredly lose horsepower with that mod.

Ted is (always) right. The stock air system before the throttle body is in no way shape or form the restriction that you want to remove. It is a well designed, high-enough flowing cold air intake itself.

Almost every system made loses horsepower through several ways.

1)Hot air. Either the system had no heat shield, or the heat shield doesn't seal.
2)Restriction. In the process of getting cold air to the custom air box through such typical means as the brake duct either requires a lot of cutting or a more restrictive setup than stock.
3)Heat Soak. The thick plastic stock intake does a very good job insulating the incoming air from engine bay temps. Any metal piping will heatsoak much more quickly and thoroughly.

A CAI can be made that will increase horsepower, but only the best one imaginable built properly. It will still only net like... 2hp.

The K&N kit is the best kit you can get. Highest CFM of all filters.

BUT, if you keep it the way you'll lose HP because of heat soak.

You need to build yourself a coldair intake (And isolated box).

Yea. But you have to take into consideration that a CAI will never output optimum performance if you dont have a good exhaust to accompany it.

Example: K&N CAI only gives +/- 2%. But a CAI with a good quality exhaust may put out +/- 3%.

^^ This is true, but if you're really making the flow through the engine you want more than a CAI. If you're running a big turbo or a bridge or PP setup which will actually want more air than stock can give then you need something like a weber style LIM, custom intake and a CAI on that.

Nice, okay, this is what im thinking...

1. New hood with hoodscoop, mostlikely the TII Hood
2. Tube that will connect from the hoodscoop directly to the intake with a filter ofcourse
3. what kind of metal?
4. would i have to buy a square filter and cut that up?
5. Need opinions on making a custom filter.

I can use that on my hood, just cut my hood up, connect a tube that will follow thru the intake with a custom filter. any opinions or suggestions?

That isnt going to be any better than stock....and probably worse as far as pressure drop....

If the car is N/A i would just leave it stock....i learned this the hard way....

Well, i do not have the stock one n e more, and i was wondering if i do custom cold air intake would help out and air from the hoodscoop would help out.. plus im also gettin ready to add heavy performance parts into it, so i thought i'd start with keeping my engine cool..

Here's my old hillbilly set up.

You could make something like that airbox for about 10-15 bucks. Just make sure you get a halfway-decent filter.

If the cold air intake is for your Honda engine in your Rx7 then the 'stock' rx7 intake is probly not suited to what you need. It was designed for the 13b rotary air flow.

I will sell you my stock NA intake. In essence the rx7 already has a "CAI" if you still want to call it that after being educated about what it really does and/or the lack there of. I am curious as to your definition of "heavy performance parts" ?

Also I read your explanation of your rx7 with a civic Si motor, but I am still dumbfounded as to what you are getting at or why you would say such a thing... I assure you if the guys here trash people that put Corvette engines into a 7 you certainly don't stand a chance with a civic motor...

Again slow down stop asking questions for a little while and read read read search search search then ask a few questions after you define what you are wanting to do what your intended out come is. Guys like ReTed, are a valued resource here so go through and read some of their posts, listen to every one and accept the criticism, most of the people here will keep you from making huge mistakes and wasting loads of money... I know this is a bit off topic but I think it needed to be said.
