$2200 shopping spree
$2200 shopping spree
Its time to add some more goodies to my car. I've got $2200 and a '89 GXL to drop it into. I already have a light flywheel along with a TII trans. But thats about it. The suspension is in great shape and so are the brakes. I really don't drive hard enough to stress either one so those are out of the question. The motor runs perfect so a rebuild isn't necessary. So here's what I got planned. Replacing the stock exhaust with a full RB road race setup. From the header all the way to the muflers. Replacing the 3.90 open diff (former auto) with a GTUs 4.30 rear. And mounting Yokohama Avid V4s 225/50R16 on my TII rims because my tires are ****. Falls a few hundred bucks short of $2200 but thats what I want. Are there any suggestions?
Clutch is a brand new ACT six puck. Forced induction is pointless. I'd rather just buy a TII and not deal with the pain. Me and this car have history and I can never part with it. Also I like the sound and response of a N/A. I'm fine with being slow.
Yeah thats always nice. But its no good with shitty tires, stock exhaust, and a 3.90 rear. Thats why I'm not dropping a TII motor in. Unless there's a good ECU for a reasonable price. Then I can fit that in.

But $2200 buys alot of things. My car could use some new paint and new wheels. The paint is tolerable and TII rims aren't bad at all. What about the RB road race exhaust. Worth $1000?
what makes it your ride is buying the stuff you want for your car. not what other people recommend you buy. i'd buy all of that stuff you need then buy new motor mounts and new hoses and cables for the car.
Wouldn't I have to upgrade injectors and fuel pump also? And how much of a gain would I see from that. Suspension was a consideration but mine seems to be in great shape and my tires are so horrible they are #1 proirity. They have good tread but they have no grip whatsoever. With my 3.90 rear I can light them up with ease. Also I don't plan on doing anything to the motor because if it goes then a TII will go in. I want the car to be compatible.
I really don't push the cars through turns (nor am I experienced enough) to need new suspension. My friend put new bushings and KYB agx shocks on his car and I hate how bumpy his car is. What I was suggesting with new injectors and such was if I ran a standalone wouldn't I want to increase fuel and such? I've often thought of a new ECU and will probably give me more to work with. I just don't want to feel dumb for blowing my cash on exhaust and a new differential. If they are worth it and higher priority (in your guys opinion) than other mods.
