When i rev it sounds like i have an exhaust leak.... but i've checked over and over and there isnt one. Cant figure it out. My air conditioning FLOODING my entire passenger side. The detination noise i get when i full throttle in 5th gear (cant figure that out either) Those are the only problems i've had so far.

Wow, I dont even know where to begin with the list of messed up **** on both of my Rx-7s, but in the end, especially after you go for a spirited drive, you remember why you own one and why its worth it

ok here goes my list
the paint its faded gold
87 turbo 2 chassis with no rear wing !!! wtf
windows stick once in awhile
porno red interior with no broken pieces
missing radio surround
its a 6 speed
i took out a motor that went 9s
and the new motor runs 11s while getting 24 mpg
hate that my rear 255/50/16 dwarf the 205/55/16 in the front.

my favorite one was when i was looking for some s5 center ac vents... finally found some after 2 months... right after they came in my a/c went out. i love pushing the car... makes you forget about all the problems it has/had. people that have seen my car say its not red anymore. its orange esp next to a new rx8.

worst thing about my FC is my love for it
chassis and interior all came from the local pick an pull... so in the past 2 years ive replaced nearly every piece of rubber in it.. bout to do my 3rd set of oil cooler lines.. leaky OMP.. master/slave clutch connector hose toasted... spent the better part of a year solving various lost coolant issues... replaced exhaust.. replaced suspension.. pulled all the emissions junk because of vac leaks.. etc etc etc...
between all this i sit glued to the computer reading this forum for answers to questions i didnt know i had yet.. as i knew buggerall about cars when i got my 7 i been doin a lot of reading. so far so good.. all improvements thus far.. no real issues
so right now the absolute worst thing about my poor lil 7 is the mind numbing fear that im gonna pop a seal or wrap it around a tree. + 1 to the mind games guy
"..did u hear that....?"

...no, it's the problems that you don't notice that should scare you... like a three-mile long trail of oil, fuel, and coolant at the same time that you don't notice until it's too late (never got that far without noticing them though...).
Your car would explode, seize up, and blow a coolant seal at the same time.

That no matter what the damn new clutch slips
Ghetto work done by former owner with crappy parts
No wideband
Hunting down exhaust leaks

NOT A DAMN THING! I love this car, it has now problems and its wonderful. Only problem is my original clutch is just barely starting to show signs of slipping when I launch it, and i just had to have the original R12 recharged.

Overall I love my 7, 9 years and I'm not tired of it yet. 8 years of being autocrossed and tracked heavily, and it's the lowest maintenance car I've ever owned. I love the agility, and that compared to a lot of new cars, even sports models (maybe especially), it's very low slung, with a low cowl, and relatively thin pillars and good visibility (yes, really!).
Still.... the original, non-clearcoat paint (Blaze Red) is very prone to fade/oxidizing. Mine looks great, but if I get caught by rain and it sits in the sun after, it spots bad and takes a lot of waxing and polishing to bring it back. It's basically a sunny day car, but unfortunately the rain doesn't always stay away just because it's a competition day.
Front suspension geometry - even lowered about one inch with coilovers, I can't get more than .6 negative camber at the front - exactly the the same as it had with the stock springs and ride height. That said, it does seem to have a lot of camber gain with the wheels turned due to high caster, so it actually seems to wear the fronts surprisingly evenly, especially condsidering the Kumho 710s I run for competition recommend at least -1.5 to -2.0 static camber.
It's NA, so I love the rock-solid reliability, but of course, even with exhaust and intake mods, I wouldn't mind a little more power. On the other hand, I got 33mpg on the drive out to Vancouver for Canadian Autoslalom Championships a few weeks ago. Usually its more like 28, which doesn't suck too bad, but is pretty thirsty for the size of car and power tho.
