Woot no more broken radio surround!
Just got my new radio mount kit and my s5 surround and vents and put it all together. I don't know if the old s5 are like these brand new surrounds but this thing is tighter than ****. I literally had to put a ton of pressure on all the parts just to get them to fit into the surround. Looks nice though compared to an old broken messed up s4 one.

Im using the s4 shifter surround its a little differnt but no big deal to me. I got the parts from the mazda dealer I have a friend who works there so I got a discount ended up around 140 for the surround and vents. I thinking its about 200 normally.

Yeah you can pretty much tell what it looks like from my pic. The old s4 stuff is more a gloss black and if you look at the second picture you can see how it lines up slightly off because the s5 is wider i think. But it hardly matters and its way better than a broken s4. So you can tell all the people going around on the fourms saying you cant use s4 shifter with s5 surround to check this thread.
Edit:god my ashtry is so nasty greenish color lol.

I bought this kit. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1209975...sh+kit&tp=3121
The main problem is with s4's you have to use the spacers which i broke the first time i think, but i also had a already messed up surround by then so if your careful on a s4 you should be okay. The s5 doesnt need the spacers in the kit so the kit is alot easier to install.

Before pics would have painted a brighter picture. . . clean though.
I did the same switch a while back. However I did not get the S5 vents, which I regret. I'll get to it sooner or later. . . until then I will just have to deal with the gaping hole similar to that in which you posted in your first picture.

Yep If you get a aftermarket radio all you need is that kit, and it has 3 differnt mounting styles also depending what type of radio you buy. You just use your stock screws to screw the radio bracket you make from that kit in then you put the surround on then the radio.
Unless you smart like me and already get the surround and forget to screw in the radio kit and already plugged the cig lighter back in so its a pain in the *** to get everything out, That made it real fun screwing them in. I also made sure to put in about half way and hook it up and stuff before pushing it in all the way and putting in the bottom pocket peice.
