Why do you say that? I can design and mill them myself. If I ever do sell one, It would be a heck of a lot less than $388 or whatnot that feed/greddy make....

So your saying that this spacer of yours is the one to allow an FD upper intake manifold to bolt to a 2nd gen lower intake manifold?

Or is this just a useless plain spacer?

It's an S5 LIM to S6 UIM adapter.
I'm loking for input on design and such. What you guys think, do you think it would sell. that kind of thing.

if you can get some proof that it increases hp then it will sell. =D
people like me that still rock top mounts would be curious since it will bring everthing higher/closer to the hood which may have some issues? and esp with the piping.

Maybe this would be for fmic people

the reason i say its a waste of money is because there has been no proven benefit to using the s6 uim. its purely cosmetic.

with that said, the s6 uim, tb, and spacer need to be purchased (which will be at least $200 for all 3), then the tps needs rewired, and some sort of custom intake elbow needs made.

not worth the time/money IMO.

Fair enough. I wont be providing Hp numbers as I will have it setup for the s6 only. As for the $200, you can generally find them for ~100USD, but then you do have to add in the cost of the adapter. For my setup, finding TB elbows has been a little rough. That combined with the sort of sketchy looking S5 TII tps, and the horrid look of the S5 UIM has gotten me to swap. I do believe that the s6 will flow a bit better, as the air doesn't have to complete a 90* turn. I don't believe it will make much difference, especially under boost.

In my case I acknowledge the minimal gains, but feel alot better with the newer TPS and better look of the UIM. I know that I am not the only one that agrees, and that would be my target audience if I did start to make them.

It would be more for the FMIC crowd, the TMIC would cover up it up too much. But I do think it would look better than the 2ng gen UIM/TB if you are using a FMIC.

Once I increase the boost past 10 psi and have to get rid of my top mount intercooler I would be willing to give it a shot. I have always liked the way the 3rd gen manifolds look...

The guys over here opt for the FD mani conversion not only for looks but for the use of the FD TPS as most FC TPS's are PIA since most of them are pretty old and new ones are pricee. I have never heard of anyone here claiming they make more power.

I use to fantasize about having an FD manifold on my FC when I was new to 7's. These days I could careless although the last TPS that went bad on me here I had to swap in about 5 different used ones until I found one that worked hahaha. The rest were all junk and would not change the idle or settle the idle when adjusted.

I am sure you could sell a couple if you made the spacer but I would not expect tons of people to come breaking down your door to get one.

There are weld on types and bolt on types. Which one will you be making?(yes I see you have holes in your design but they match and do not make up for the pattern difference in the two mani's so I thought I would ask.

Good luck!

I was looking into this a bit more and realized that fc3s91 is already in the process of making 100 of these, he has made them before and is going to have them for sale by next month. Just figured you might want to know.

What are his costs going to be? If hes mass producing them at anything more then $130.00 I'd stay away.

As for the spacer, It will be a bolt on, and should be compatible with the OEM gaskets. The Ports are easy to match up, but the 2bolts/side is hard to match up. I will be experimenting on ways to not damage/ modify anything.

Edit: "figure out a way to plumb 2 more injectors in there and you might be on to something"
What do you mean? To add two more injectors would require another fuel rail and mounting... After I make a couple spacers, I should be able to do one-offs for people.

a guy had made a spacer for a FD intake, it had bungs for 2 more injectors, obviously it would need another fuel rail as well.

I cant find his thread or picture for **** right now.

What's to design? It's self explanatory when you look at it.The center bolt hole on the S6 UIM is the alignment hole. The other bolt holes in the S6 UIM have to be ovaled to match the S5 LIM stud position. If you make it less then an inch thick then the transition from the UIM primaries to the LIM primaries are too sharp. Make it pretty like the feed unit by contouring the outside of the spacer to match the manifolds and charge a bit more bread or sell it as a lump of rectangular aluminum for cheaper.

The best way to do this though, is to fill weld the primaries about an inch up in the S6 UIM(So you're not left with an oval hole) and and die grind/port it to match the S5 gasket again using the S6 center bolt as reference and ovaling the other S6 holes to match the S5 LIM studs. The area between the two S6 UIM primaries may need to have material welded on the outside of the manifold just above the flange casting as that area will get quit thin. That way you aren't increasing the length of the runners in the intake that extra inch,it does make a difference.

i agree 1000% with you because if you do not have material welded on the s6uim the hole of the screw will be at the edge and this isn't safe at all...

Lol at all the "how useless" **** talk. I've actually been trying to find a s4 t2 lim to uim riser. Not for any kind of power gain, but to clear room for my -8 an parallel fuel set up, gm iat, and megasquirt harness under my 80mm tb. There is a use for one of these, just sayin. Too bad this is for the s6 uim, I wouldn't mind finding one for a s4 to s4 application. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

I feel ya. I have the risingrpm FC to fd uim adapter. Best part I like is all the extra room under the manifold.
