What to do

Earlier this week, my 87 GXL I've been using as a daily driver for the last 8 years, was in a crash, and the insurance company is probably going to total it. It has 157k miles on it, and was running great. Mostly all stock, KYB shocks, fairly new Khumo tires.

Should I try to keep this car and part it out or just let it go to a salvage yard somewhere. I really don't have the facilities, time, or money to try to fix it back up.

I have attached a couple of before and after pictures. Entire front end is damaged, mostly passenger side, engine appears to be intact, but engine compartment is so crushed, I could not get a real feel for how bad it is.

adjuster has not been to see it yet, so I have no idea on what the insurance company is going to offer. It's the other guys insurance I'm having to deal with. no where near what it's going to take to get me back in a set of wheels.

Not sure if the passenger strut survived or not. Tried to take photos today w/cell phone camera, not too good resolution.

RX7 vs Chevy 2500 pickup. I did not move him, running between 40-45 at impact. At least I was lucky to walk away with no broken bones. Thanks to the seatbelt, it saved me from eating the steering wheel.

that is if you have the patience and time to go through something like that.

At least you got to use his bowtie to hold your hood up... Lol!

Sucks to see it dude... Hope you get a decent amount of money for it. If I were you, I'd get a cheap *** Honda to daily drive for a while as you part out that car and save up enough to buy another decent car.

Oh wait... That is what I did...

Yeah, I think I'll call that picture "Spear of Death". :-o You think that has a nice ring to it??

Had the car over 8 years, had 82k on it when I got it. Only done tires (several sets), KYB shocks/struts, AC condensor (3 months ago). Best car I've ever had.

Wife was scared every time I drove it because she was afraid I'd get hurt because there were no air bags. I guess that's one way to prove to her we don't need no stinking air bags! And yes, it still sucks...
