Weird things found in filter box
Weird things found in filter box
Well, have you ever found something in the intake box that shouldn't be there. While changing out my air filter in my 87 after I got it, I found a crap load of leaves and also, probably the weirdest thing I ever seen with my filter was a full plastic grocery bag in with my filter. It was not over the filter, just on top of the filter all crumbled up.
Now how the hell this got there is beyond me. Ever find anything weird like this after buying your RX? Wish I would have taken a pic.

I found a rat graveyard in my old GTU. No chewed wires. Nothing chewed at all. Open the cargo bins, and there were 5 petrified rats in one and 3 in the other.
One thing that sucked, turned on the AC for the first time and got a face full of twigs, leaves, and debris.

Nuts. Lots and lots of nuts. While in storage for the winter, it seems as though some sort of rodent decided that my airbox was the perfect place to hide its nuts....

Sounded like maracas. lol

when i first bought my s4 i took it home and began the tune-up process. one of the first things i did was pull the air filter, which had a rat's nest under it. they had chewed most of the insulation off the inside of the hood, and then crawled in through the intake tube to make their burrow.
When I bought my S4 GTU three years ago, I removed the filter to clean and oil it (drop-in K&N) and I found a bunch of weird black tar-like stuff. It was not hardened, rather sticky and viscous like partially dried chocolate syrup. I cleaned it all out with solvent and let everything dry and it never came back. No idea what it was. Maybe the previous owner put too much oil on the filter?
We've found bats and birds among other weird stuff, but not in an FC. It's almost impossible for a critter to find its way into that airbox while driving. I've seen squirrels and other furry animals make nests in the worst spots, including the intake. Worst part is, they all have the same idea: use the wiring harness as building materials for their damn nests. Nothing like getting a no-start towed in to the shop, and having to play exterminator. I guess we're not allowed to charge extra time for killing vermin and cleaning rat poo from throttle bodies.
Why can't it be something cool in there, like money. It's never money

since were on the subject of thing found in the car overall and money. 15$ in change while stripping the interior. bought beer after with the change. you know its bad when old people start getting irritated while you pay in change lol
i found a bra in my intercooler once. must have grabbed it from the rag stash and used it to plug a pipe then forgot about it. Im pretty sure it was in there when I made 575whp, so it must not have been too restrictive.
