turbo motor swap in my 88s4 vert......

Ok I have a s4 vert. I'm looking to motor swap to a turbo setup.

I'm looking around for a setup that with have mad power and reliability.
I'm not sure which engine would be a good choice for me....
I'm looking for around 350hp.

Im really wanting a Cosmo 13b re, but the ones I see are only the motor and what's on them, no trans their autos anyways but I know they have big intake ports but from what I heard their internals are weaker then the 13b turbos in the 3rd gens.

The others are a s4 turbo 2, s5 turbo 2, or the twin turbo 3rd gen 13b.
I'm leaning towards the 3rd gen 13b and the 13b re cosmos.

What engine would be the easier more simple way of doing a turbo swap out of the 4 engines while making good solid reliable power?

I'm looking for a stand alone CPU to control all this as well. Probably a haltec .

Help me guys.

You def. need to search befor asking q's like this. s4 T2 is your best option in terms of ease to install or a s5/s4 hybrid motor using the intake/throttle ECU. 13brew is not just going to bolt in. Either way you have a lot of work ahead of you. for 350hp either motor will work fine.

You're asking an engine to reliably deliver 50-100% more power than it was designed for. Easy, reliable and cheap will not go together.

Easiest way, give it to a shop that knows what they are doing and sell a kidney to pay for it. By the time you are out of recovery, the car may be done.

If you are set on building it yourself, a S4/5 13BT rebuild with a BNR Stage 3 or 4 should do it. Just copy someone's build thread for all the supporting mod's.

To live with long term, stay in series. Go for the S4 block. If you build and engine, go with S4 housings and rotors and '91 S5 Irons for a 2nd Gen enginen engine that would be best built for the power you're looking for.

Be prepared to open your wallet to the tune of $5,000+ before all is said and done to do it right and have something that will last longer than a few months.

For instance,

Block, say $1000 - $2000

Haltech P. 1000, $1,700+ plug-in's such as MAP sensor, O2 Sensor, etc. Good luck finding a used P. 1000. You could get Sprint for under $1000, but much more tedious install plus relays, fuse set up, etc are in addition to. Not included as is the case with the P 1000. Couple that with resultant much higher install labor cost, you don't save much and you only have 16 bit rather than 32 bit. So at the end of the day better to go straight to the 1000.

Bigger Turbo - $400- 500 for a good used set up

$200 - 300 for upgraded fuel system (pump, regulator, injectors)

Tii Tranny, Drive Shaft, Diff, and half shafts. Say another $400 all in for good used.

Or, you could simply put in stock TII set up, get everything running right, then build up to your goal over time to spread the shock to your wallet over time.
$200-300 for the tune.

Always keep in mind that it's weak links in your build that will lead to premature failure.

An s5 block with s4 externals makes it really easy, assuming you swap the front cover so you can use the mechanical OMP. But yeah, start researching turbo swap threads in this subforum and you'll find tons of info. You can also find more in the 2nd gen archive.
