true ballers: brag about your brand new OEM parts
Your copper crush washers look great Im sure.
I had and have the mindset of doing every little thing on the car right, no matter how small or large, seen or unseen. Do it one time, and I will never have to do it again.
I saved all the reciepts and the original bags, I think I have about 300 bags.
The only mod I have on the car is I used different color coded vac hoses for the 5-6 different underhood systems, so I can keep track and was easier to install.
I might upgrade to the 89 taillights, and when I turn 60, years from now, I will probably
tear the car apart and paint it mazda rx-7 gold, my favorite color, ha.

I got a lot of great deals with mazda, and a lot of freebies also.
Spending upwards of 7k is not expensive in the world of car restoration.
I have a tue collector car, one of the best stock ones left, for only about 10k total.
Restoration as in true restoration... not just fixing what is broken.
It means gutting the car, and going every nut and bolt, every wire, every crevice...
cleaning, repair or replace.
I still have the front bumper to do. I also have about 50 or so new leftover parts in the bags,
I could have returned them but kept them. Clips, bolts, etc...
My turbo will last my lifetime as a collector car. Life is good.

OEM miata torsen for a 4.3 GTUs rear end rebuild, even through mazdaspeed was stupid money. Actually ended up costing about the same as an average used miata diff though so it was worth it....
I don't trust bone yards for mechanical parts like that when racing...

Got to remember, real hardcore restoration guys hardly go on this kind of forum. They have their own community and followers, and can spend an upwards of 100k on a restoration vehicle. It is only a matter of time before the rx7's rarity is noticed to a greater community of restore shops. As 30 year cars are (sports or not) overlooked to favor some of the 50+ year cars that sell for high dollars at auto auctions.
What we have here are semi-resto guys and a plethora of tuners. So it would be difficult for some to see this reality when we talk about spending like 50 bucks on a piece of plastic. or even shelling out that $1600 price tag on a engine harness.
For us 2nd gen guys, i dont expect to see fully restored FC3S's with UBER showroom quality that a restoration shop has spend 60k on. Probably not for another 25 to 30 years. When car's availability has dwindled down to the low thousands.

I remember when late 70s trans ams were about worthless
Now all the people who were a kid when those cars were new want them, prices have been going up and up.
What will RX7s be in another 10-15 years? Who is to know, but you can look at older Zs for comparison and they dont exactly floor em at Barret Jacksons

If you are a registered racer Mazda does give discounts of upwards to 25% on OEM parts and mazdaspeed parts. You must have proof of registration and supporting documents and recent race standings. There is an online application for anyone who is interested on Mazda's website. I think a few people take advantage of that deal.
Mazdatrix and Ray Crowe are your frienda. I only go to the local dealership when I need a $1 crush washer and don't want to pay shipping for it
I always bought from mazdatrix till i got my own mazdaspeed acct. Again not everyone can justify it with them, you need to be in active competition. But what you save vs dealers with mazdatrix you save double that through mazdaspeed.
Bought a new Battery cover lid. New push button plastic clips for the front of radiator relay plastic mount. New speaker cover screws and plastic push in fasteners.
I'm so OEM!
