true ballers: brag about your brand new OEM parts
-- OEM crank pulley with matching hub. hell yeah my timing is correct, and the new OEM paint looks great
-- OEM driver handle. new OEM paint, door opens like new
-- OEM lower steering column cover piece
-- OEM driver side A pillar trim. no more cracks or splits
-- OEM side seals, corner seals, and various springs when I did the rebuild
all with less than 3000 miles on them, some less than 1000. also have an OEM reman water pump with a couple hundred miles on it, new ones are not available
friend of mine was showing off two brand new OEM power window switches, driver and passenger

not really stupid. OEM parts bought at sticker price is usually something i hear from hardcore restoration gurus. Tuners and hotroders go for the aftermarket flavor which is usually cheaper, not saying that OEM vs 3rd party debate should be blown up here.
Let the topic run its course! There is no reason why consumers who prefer OEM parts only, be looked down upon.

I bought a brand new S4 resistor pack once.
I also have 2 brand new brake/clutch pedal pads sitting somewhere, along with a new prop rod holder thing that'll be going on the base when it's done.
It's ridiculous how much they charge for stuff. $15 each for those little vents in the dash? pssh... Also, has anyone else noticed that a master cylinder rebuild kit costs more than a new master cylinder on Mazdatrix?

Ray Crowe of Malloy Mazda (forum vendor here) has the best hookup on OEM parts prices... I got my
--brand new OEM TPS -- no hesitations, no used TPS bullshit
--brand new OEM water temp sensor -- warmup enrichments are correct, Power FC reads accurately
--brand new OEM FD IAT sensor -- needed with a Power FC
from him. He's at least 10% cheaper than Mazdatrix I'd say. But Mazdatrix is nice because of the web interface. I've bought a lot of stuff from both of them. Malloy's number is (703) 490-8170 , ask for Mazda parts and then ask for Ray Crowe. I think he's there 8 - 4pm Eastern monday through friday. He's the parts manager but he owns an FD and a T2 so he knows his ****.

Working next to http://www.rotorsport2.com/, I get all my parts at cost from the dealer. Most recent purchase? Brand new brake and clutch pedal pads.
Go ahead and buy your cheap aftermarket stuff, there is a reason dealer parts are 3 times as expensive, because they last 3 times as long.
However there are cases where the dealer uses a 3rd party manufacturer for a part and you can more than likely find the part as "aftermarket" and pay the lower price. Or there are cases where performance parts are cheaper than dealer parts such as Racing Beat oil cooler lines.

Or just drive down after work and talk with him in person, like I do.
I keep an open tab for all the random bolts, brackets, clips, and other bullshit I need.
