tranny issues

so i took the fc out for a drive, and while i was on the way back the clutch depressed damn near all the way down and i was barely able to get it in gear. i had to kick the pedal towards me to get it raised up again. and on top of that my shifter did not want to get in gear. i tried to slap it in any gear, but it just fought me for a while, until i turned the car off and waited awhile the clutch as well as the shifter went back to normal. thoughts?

Check your clutch fluid level. I'll bet it's gone down. Get a new master cylinder and slave cylinder. A clutch line is always a good idea, too. Mazdatrix sells braided stainless lines, and you can get a master/slave set for probably under $100. Install the parts, bleed the system, drive happy.

Just do me a favor and don't try forcing the car into gear while driving it anymore. Your clutch isn't fully disengaging because the hydraulics aren't working properly. If you try forcing it while driving, you're burning up your synchronizers in the transmission, and it'll be a lot more expensive to fix than just the clutch hydraulics.

BTW, should have posted this in the 2nd gen specific forum, not the non-technical.
