I get a lot of looks at gas stations. I also saw in the windshield of an on coming car a guy's wife was pointing like crazy at my car as we passed with the look of sheer amazement on her face.

At a big car show in N.C. we were rolling about 20 deep (all civics and nissans except me!) Driving in looking for a parking space a kid about 8 yrs old yells out, "Hey guy in the RX7....Nice car!"

I had two young college couples in a Evo 8 next to me at a light. This is when they had only been out about 2 months. The girls in the back roll down the window and say "your car is smoking" I replied," That's the smell of HP." Then I proceeded to dust them to the next light

The best though is being here in Japan and having the locals give me a Thumbs Up for my FC!

Me: No, is not and I can not talk to you about it because you just do know about this car and rotary engines.
Him: Yes, I do know, these cars have engine that you just replace when the rubber band brakes inside. haha I told you I knew!!

that's on a VERY good day I usually get 13-15 when I'm driving "normal"

my econ teacher who is a nature freak just gave me the most disappointing look I've ever seen when I told him a little bout my car, "yea it gets 13-15mpg and it burns and leaks oil" then I say's I'm gonna get a rebuild and port job soon, him-"will that help?" me-"no it'll do the same thing except I'll be going faster" now that's what I call conservation BAM!!

last night at work(advance auto) i got a phone call about some guy who needs new apex seals. i told him that we don't sell them there, then he proceeded to tell me that the hop told him that he needed a new cam, and possibly new pistons. this guy was dead serious, so i really wanna know what shop he went to.

From: Jamesport, NY..."Movin' on up, to the east side!"
A buddy of mine sold a cheap 86 base Rx7 a while back to a local kid. About a week later he gets a call from the kid saying that he couldn't get the car started and had it towed to a local mechanic 2 days before. So, out of good faith, we took a ride over to the shop to see what was going on. When we arrive there, the mechanic immediatly lays into my friend saying,
"You sold this car with a bad motor! I have spent the last two days calling every parts house in the north east looking for a new HEAD GASKET! I can't find one anywhere. Now we need to get another whole motor in from a junkyard!"
My friend and I turn around and call up the kid and said,
"Umm, dude. You need to get your car the hell out of here. These clowns don't know what they are doing." We then told him what had transpired.
Even the kid laughed on the phone!
The next day the car was back at the kids house. We hooked up a tow rope, popped the clutch in 2nd gear, and all was good. We also explained the fuel fuse trick to the kid. He ended up driving it for another two years after that.

I just wish I could have heard the comments on the other end of the line when that knucklehead was looking for a head gasket.

Check out JPR Imports in Blackwood. They fixed some major electrical problems in my '79 and I will definitely be bringing up my '89 for some work. I'm sure the owner, Jim, would know plenty of people in the area and he does amazing work. last time I was there he was building a three-rotor for someone's FD with about $15k into the body alone(the only part that wasn't carbon fiber was the roof).

Sorry to go off topic. I would contribute to the thread, but I just got my car last Sunday so I have no funny stories.

When i tell people in my area that my car has no pistons, they're all like,"...what?"
The look on their face says it all. I imagine this is the reaction Chistopher Columbus got when he told people the world was ROUND (ironically enough so are our engines).

Most people just change the subject when I try to explain the engine to them. I need one of those keychains with the moving rotor in it.

Guy selling RX7 on ebay

Selling a Rx7 turbo 2 on ebay

The advert mentions things like

1.3, 4cyl
No tappet noise
Recent Cam belt change
Turbo 2 means it is a twin turbo!!!!

I sent an email to the guy outlining all his errors, He sent a harsh one back using loads of swear words, he did mention i wasn't the only one to sent him mail on the matter.

haha yea I've had people ask about how many cylinders my engine has or other dumb questions, I also get is that a 944 vert?. The best was when a kid in a prelude rolled up next to me, and he was revin his engine, so I lowered the window and he goes
Him:"is that an Rx-7?"
Me: "yeah"
Him: "my brother had one, those cars sucks"
Me: " your brother must be a dumbass, cuz they are an amazing car"
Needless to say after some more exchanging of words we both take off when the light goes and i didnt even have to get out of 3rd to see his headlights way behind me.
