Still satisfied with N/A?
I know I am.
I feel like I've recently gotten a little carried away chasing numbers with my turboII. I made 300whp on the dyno and I all I've been thinking about lately is upping the boost and making my car faster. A little foolish really.
Anyways, I decided to take my 1988 N/A fc for a final spirited drive before I sell her this week (for turboII goodies, figures :roll eyes: ) and man was I impressed. Just the feel and tone of the rotary pulling all the way to 8000rpm. The pure sportscar feeling, making short work of corners, jamming through the gears.. It was awesome and it really made me appreciate and remember why I love these cars in the first place.
My turbo does these things just as well, even better, I guess I just kinda get addicted to boooOOOSST sometimes and forget about the overall feeling. The N/A just helped me remember.
Anywho, just a story and experience from a happy fc owner. Cheers.

haha i know wht you mean, well i don't own a turbo 2 but i don't plan to either. i love my na fc. so light and responsive. it's what a real sports car is supposed to feel like! i really enjoy slowly winding out into the mid range before really opening it up. you really get to feel the smooth reving of our beloved rotary that way and the sound of it singing out to 8k is just amazing! hi, my name is Roy and i am an addict! muahahahaha. im actually currently putting together an na bridgeport build! too many people get carried away with boost numbers and dyno results and forget about what these cars were truly designed for, to be driven! i am a rotorhead true and true, and have never been willing to sacrifice that response. im not dissing on it, because we all know boost is the oly way to make real hp. however a nice port and short final gears is a great way to make acceleration. it seems like no one remembers what racing without a turbo is like anymore. anyhow, just saying. i too love my na rotary!
again, if it sounds like im dissing on turbo set ups, im not. just stating my opinions and why i personally don't want one.

Man I wish we Received the N/A FC in NZ. I imagine all the feeling of driving my old mx5 but with a rotary whining away in the engine bay and none of the hairdresser/gay boy/ blow job gestures.

I'm turbo now and I miss my old non-turbo setup. If I were to do it all over again I'd just do a full loud exhaust on a non turbo build, dump it, throw wheels on it and call it a day. No other mods, stock intake, stock looking engine bay so cops won't hassle you.

I have had 2 T2's and 5 NA FC's over the past 13 + years now. I just picked up another N/A FC that I plan on building for daily use as a pure sports car to keep for a long time. Power is low on the priority list. Handeling, efficenty, reliability, style, steering, responsiveness, power delivery, comfort.... all more important than power.
Boost and power numbers are fun for what they are but I am over it. Been there done that.

After a couple days of anything other than an FC [that I've yet driven] and I appreciate my car more and more XD [Especially after something awful like a Grand AM or MX-6...]

I am satisfied with my na, u gotta love it when the aux ports kick in and the feel have that pull. I'm in the process of installing the atkins 6port sleeves and can't wait to feel how it pulls with that. I do love how I don't have to worry on boost lag or anything like that (till I go supercharge :P)

Wait, what (again)? Supercharger, how so? The last "kit" for the FC has not been manufactured for 15 years at least. So is custom ghetto fabbing going to happen?

But I think the whole point is that it isn't about power numbers. Just as someone who chooses a smaller turbo for street use rather than a larger turbo that could make 100 more HP. If I did a 20B it would be a proper 20B N/A street build. The point would be making the N/A 20B streetable and reliable just as if Mazda made it that way from the factory. It's not about impressing anyone. It's about the enjoyment of driving a balanced sports car that has been completely sorted out and built to your own preferences.

i have a pineapple street port and a bnr stage2 on 12psi and its fun. but when it gives up the ghost eventually i plan on building a ported na 20b instead. i just want na reliability and around 300hp. just enough to beat up on the hotrods and whatnot in my area. not to mention the awesome sound

i thought i could never drive an n/a rotary again until i got the 8, still not as much fun as my TII but the car drives itself and feels quite light on its feet compared to the boat that it looks like on the outside/inside. the electronic steering and tight suspension makes the older setups feel like antiques when driving them compared to this car that you could throw sideways at 50 and drive with your index finger.

The n.a 13b is a good engine. Its a dog down low but the fun happens when going above 4.5k, very easy to keep control while hammering down as well. Its great for daily driving.
What bothers me is that the fc is 27-31 years old now or something. Everything else falls apart before the engine does, at least for me that is.
I can't say im tired of the n/a after all these years but i want a little more punch, just a little more than the typical n.a mods can add. I honestly really want a SC kit more than a turbo but NO ONE is selling one! I want more bottom end/mid, top end is good enough for daily driving. Sooo if anyone reads this and has a SC kit.....sell.me.it.
