sensors the problem?

i just installed a new na engine into my na s5 but i broke the temp sensor a the bottom of the rad. and the sensor that goes in the oil pan, also i eliminated my air pump, i started the engine and it idles erratically and kinda coughs would it be the sensors the lack of air pump?

Lack of airpump wouldnt make it cough if blanking plate is mounted properly. When you say new engine, i assume you mean used and new to the car..... not mazda reman or rebuilt. Did you hear this engine run prior to the install? I would also check for a vaccum leak somewhere too.
