It would run like crap. Depending on how hard or long you drove it like that it may or may not damage the engine. If it was just for a couple minutes you should be ok.

If he puts 9s in the 7 holes and 7's in the 9 holes it will just run like crap. Plain and simple. If the wires are reversed, same situation, but worse for the engine being that the timing and all will be thrown off.
It will run fine up until the point where the 9s in the leading holes get fouled because they're a colder plug than the 7s. Not hot enough = carbon buildup & eventual misfiring, too hot = melted plugs & detonation.

This thread really should be in the tech section too.

Misfiring will be noticeable. You'll get a really shitty lumpy idle, if at all and if you were to apply any throttle it would also rev up in a similar manner. You may not even be able to take it past a couple thousand rpm which is kinda good as im sure anything past that would be reallly bad for the engine.
Im referring to if the leading and trailing wires were to be mixed up

If you have a hotter plug in the trailing slots and colder plugs in the leading slots it will not run to spec. If you were to run all 9s in leading and trailing it would run ok, but foul out quicker and maybe not have as much bottom end power on a standard NA. If you were to run all 7's then it has an increased chance of detonation.
