second guessing my rotary purchase, need a push
bought a 91fc in great condition. ALL STOCK. i want to do a turbo 2 conversion or beefy n/a but im scared out my mind lol i have 8 grand to spend but i keep reading how finicky these engines are it scares me. how much are my chances i do a turbo 2 swap dropping 5 grand on an engine and i blow it or something ***** up. i don't rag my vehicles out but im not a reserved driver, if that makes sense....i don't know what to do..any thoughts?

Our engines are not finicky, no engine is. Its the flaky *** owners that don't do proper maintenance that cause problems.
do the TII swap if you give a **** about what a 7 is. if you dont, go buy a corvette.

1-i dont want to do a ls1 swap.2-i hate corvettes.... i have grown to like the rotary alot, been reading this forum for a month now absorbing every small detail i can on everything. i just dont want to throw away my money like everyone else here. what i meant by finicky was i have read alot about detonation and small sensors and other things that cause it. i actually like owning something noone knows anything about...but the couple thousand on this forum ha ...just getting leery about it all. need to just get up with some people at a club meet so i can how stuffs done. ....don't want to get ripped off by all these rotary specialist shops that claim they are the best you know? anyways, thanks for the support

whats a Turbo V?
T2 swap
Stand alone
Large turbo(holset HX40 would work and be cheap)
and invest in getting an extra rebiuld kit or 2.
i Daily drove my 90 GTU RX-7 with over 200,000miles for nearly 4 years. it died at like 22X,XXX miles with a blow coolant seal.

Please don't go ls1 or any piston engine for that matter. there's enough of them rolling around.

T2 swap from Japan2LA here on the forum ~1700
Send the turbo to BNR for a BNR stage 2 ~700
Custom exhaust ~800
Microtech LT10 and accessories ~1400
Tuning from a real rotary pro ~700
Extra rebuild kit ~1200
Those are all estimated numbers but that there puts you at about 6500 and pretty much guarantees 200k miles of solid reliable performance out of the car (assuming you do your end taking care of it with oil changes & replacing bad parts).
At that point, you could purchase another rebuild kit, rims, coilovers, etc.
Theirs a lot of customizing you can do with 8k as long as you spend it in the right places. I'd suggest doing some more surfing the forum. Maybe read though peoples build threads and see what they considered the important parts of their builds. If you've done some reading, you'll notice a lot of people try to go overboard on their build and end up running out of money and have a 1/2 built car that doesn't run. Make sure to double check everything so this doesn't happen to you.

why does everone always say but a trubo II, they are rare as **** were i live have seen 2 one is a clean 10 ae that has never moved and the other just sits there fading away
buying and swaping an na fc is not that expesive, i got my fc for 900 and it still ran good and had 155k on it, 13bt and tranny 1600, drive shaft 280, bov 300, turbo II hood 100, n370 ecu 200, n370 maf 100, n370 map 100, full 3in exhaust 300, throttle cable 50, 900 for the fc that still had a good clean paint job
i spent 3900 for a good running boosted rx7, all the turbo II in the same conditon go for a few grand more, so why by a turbo II when you can build it your self for alot less and building it is half the fun
