Angry A sad day for FC owners....

A buddy of mine had 2 FC's (lol, don't we all...) A 90 gtu daily and a 10AE w/ a blown motor that he was preserving until he could afford to restore it.

Long story short, he got into some trouble, and the police impounded the GTU, by the time he was able to get to the yard, they wanted a ridiculous amount in impound fees, so he let them have it. It was sold at auction and 1 month later I saw it in the local junk yard; apparently whoever bought it couldn't drive for ****....

I was at the yard this past weekend grabbing a few things from the gtu w/ another friend who was looking for Supra parts, he comes over and tells me there's another 7 in the yard....white, with "strange emblems".........yep......

[Look at pictures now, lol]

The city apparently towed it from his apt while he was away, and last he heard they were holding it; guess not....

Someone *** clown cracked the windshield and sawz-all'd the roof between the windshield and the sunroof for no apparent reason (it is not a policy of the yard, because no other car is cut like that.....and the blade was still in the roof!) The motor was already out while it was sitting, but the tranny was gone, and I doubt it was pulled at the yard because there was no evidence underneath, and pretty much everything else was intact. Except the pass side window which was missing and the pass side side which had obviously been drenched and backed a few times. Perhaps it was stolen ? who knows.....

Regardless, 10AE's are now 1 rarer. /Rant

ive had a idiot friend loose his car because he couldnt come up with the impound fees.. hope your friend learned his lesson. Lesson being that you gotta hustle to get your car out, even if you weren't really in the wrong in the first place.

@ Bikeboy
As far as the trouble, it was some stupid NJ insurance law that doesn't exist in FL, but he didn't inform them when he moved, and he got caught up. They suspended his license but he had just opened a business and needed to be there....it was only a matter of time.

The GTU was taken because of trouble. The 10AE was taken because, due to the trouble he was unable to be at his former place of residence.

@ Hypertek
I hear you. Kinda hard to do that when you're eating county food though...
And losing a car to impound fees is one thing, but losing 2 cars......

Maybe someone was trying to get the windshield out in one piece without having to get between the sealant and break it til they could get it to a glass shop so they could safely remove it? and I was the first one to get stuff from the car.. engine was gone tranny was there, there was a sheet in the floor with a lot of engine codes. but it wasnt there, I was going to pull it if it was.

I was going to ask if the junkyard was in Tampa or Tallahassee, but seeing as how another person from Tallahassee said they pulled some parts off of it, that answers my question.

I figured you'd been there, did you pull the tranny? cuz someone did. The engine was gone before it got towed, it blew shortly after he got it, and its in a storage unit somewhere.

Btw, the S5 motor in the other FC is good if you know anyone that needs one and I've got a subframe and hubs at my house that you can have if you want them.

I pulled the entire interior (minus seats) and the hatch. I wanted the windows but the Pass side was missing and I figured no one is gonna sell me one 10AE window..... I'll put the vin on my dash so it can live on in memory

Sucks... I too remember being forced to give up a car cuz I couldn't afford to get it out of the impound. A month later my friend saw it in the junkyard and it broke my heart

I pulled the radio surround, door panels a pillar trim and headliner. I thought about pulling the tranny but didnt have the extra money. pulled the rear diff to get to the mount. I pulled the pass window for a buddy in Texas that needed it, his broke. I also got the hood and spoiler. If the engine is complete that your buddy has I might buy it from him if he wants to sell it.. I thought about pulling the intake off the s5 thats out there but the TB looked pretty nasty so i wasnt sure if it was still any good.. i know it could be cleaned and all. Do you live in Tally or Tampa?

That's too bad, but think of it this way:

-The GTU was just the S5 base model. Loads of them around.
-The 10AE is a TII with fancy paint, different glass, a few logos and some interior changes.

Less of them, means they are becoming more rare. More rare + Demand = Higher Value

Just recently, a friend of mine stripped and sliced up my old 240sx that I sold him. Just like ol' yeller, it was a good car, but there comes a time, when they are beyond help. Although that one may have had more life in it, it has been put out to pasture...

It also means even harder to find parts in the future.

Black s4 interior If it wasn't a 10AE I wouldn't be too sad.

Why would you let a 10AE sit for 12 years? You could have sold it to somebody.

Rx7's hold such high levels of respect for me because when i got into imports, they were like the ferrari of japan.

It sucks to see them rot, go to hell and fall victim of vandals.

I'm not gonna lie. I was pretty upset/sad when i had to crush my se shell because county ordinance states i couldn't have it half-stripped in MY driveway that I pay for in MY county i PAY TAXES to live in.

it's all fucked if you think about it. Life isn't fair.

Damn, the a pillars would have made my conversion complete. I'll find a headliner eventually. I hope your friend has a 10AE....and even then I'm pretty sure there are closer FC parts than Tallahassee lol. Yea, the S5 ran well, best n/a I've driven motor wise swat the S5 accessories and you're good to go. Im actually in Jacksonville, but I come back from time to time as I still have friends in town.
