That is pretty much my biggest issue with this kit now. It looks like the car they have it on is on stock suspension. Again they also show a pic of looking down where mine is at a slight up angle. I should have my radiator back later this week from a local shop.

Thanks alot for posting those pics! rx7club is more customer support then rotary works lol. The end result still came out the same. Yes my intercooler actually has alittle more angle to it since I have a "custom" front support.

i was really keen on getting this kit once i saw it.. but would like to suss out the issues first

what is your comments overall for this kit? still good bang for your buck? how about quality of parts?

Overall for the price its still a good deal. granted if you run a stock turbo you will have to buy atleast a coupler to fit the turbo. Also if you dont already have a greddy throttle body adapter you will have to shell cash for that. Plus longer oil cooler lines and an electric fan. So worst case add another $200. Then you will need to fab some sort of ducting and if you dont wanna brake of that lower neck you will need to have that moved.

edit: and if you make the intercooler sit up in the rear you might be looking at a smaller battery or relocating it.

Actually that bracket is also part of the kit if I am not mistaken. That was the first kit taken from the shipment he has in stock now so I find it hard to believe that so much "customizing" is needed :dunno:


Either way, pretty damn good bang for your buck!

The intercooler should have the in/out 90Deg elbows welded on instead of using a 90Deg silicone coupler, would make for a cleaner look as well as eliminate any chance of that coupler blowing off.

Just a friendly observation

well unless a oilcooler lines, smaller battery, throttle body adapter and ground clearance magicaly appear.

well to me, it looks like they have actually fitted it to a fc3s with whatever they do supply in their kit
no offence to twins80, but i think without instructions (or my pics i posted as a guide) on how to install it, you would probably find you NEED to make/modify custom brackets, i surely wouldnt be able to figure it out first go without any clues
it may have been different if there were more precise steps on how to install.. maybe.. :dunno:

i believe rotary-works.com has the option to buy their oil cooler with lines supplied?

possible to do a favour for me twins? can you measure how far the lower bracket (which supports the radiator and intercooler) sits away from the main pulley?

at the end of the day the car started and only had 2 minor leaks. Tomorrow i finish with some ducting and putting my bumper on lol

Looks good, do you think that lower bracket will act as a skid plate too or are you going with your original idea and making some protector bars?

I raised and relocated my radiator better because I thought my leak was caused by the rad hitting a coolant elbow. Turns out my water pump is dead lolz. My car is stock height but I'm gathering parts to make my own coilovers so Ill need a skid bar too.

I feel like it would have been a lot easier to just make your own kit... Probably cheaper, and
wouldn't be two inches off the ground. I may go V-mount one day, but just fab my own setup.
The kit does look real nice and clean though!

got to love it when the radiator is one of the lowest things on a car

ok one last rant about this kit. The blow off valve. I sware 90% of the time all I get is compressor surge. The other 10% I still get compressor surge mixed with a small amount of actuall blow off. I have already backed off the preload on the bov spring. So looks like i need to find a softer spring or a new blow off.

wat bov? i have a hks ssqv and unless i boost 10+ it surges a bit
but in that 10 to 15psi it lets out ONE loud ass psssshhhhh!!!

this is what ive been told by every major turbo company i called:
1-15+/-psi surge isnt going to hurt the turbo, theres just not enough pressure in the turbo to cause damage

buut 20+ psi surge is getting dangerous
and 30+psi surge, ur gonna need a new turbo

Using my Magic to bring it back from the dead. I was looking into this kit. A properly made v-mount radiator has both the inlet and the outlet on top so it's not dangerous.
I have a v-mount kit from the rx7store in my FD (admittedly a different application) but it works very well.

I would think an air bubble in the top keeping water from getting to the pump might be a problem with that design, but maybe not. I would get some air bleeders welded into it if you can to make sure the air is out.

any updates on how the car drives the rotary works vmount? I'm potentially days from ordering the vmount bracket kit they sell, then just ebaying the rad and vmount...I think the radiator they supply is a little more than most ppl need. My stock radiator seldomly gets over 180F even in the 95F+ weather and dogging it.
