real GTUs?????????

okay. quick question. i bought a 1989 GTUs a couple years ago and all signs point to it being authentic (TII wheels, brakes, 4.3 rear end, no sunroof. old owner down the line installed a tiny aftermarket manual one!! i know gay!!! but it helped lower the price) but recently iv heard they didnt have a rear wiper. mine does.... did the rear wiper come as an option or what? i would love to have such a rare car. well everything that made it a GTUs has been replaced with aftermarket parts anyway(is that wrong?lol) but i got it for 2400 and besides the jank *** gay sunroof it was in perfect condition when i got it. i heard the only made 1000 in '89. so please give me some info on the rear wiper deal.

thanks.

Easiest way to tell is to check the door sticker for tire size. It should spec for 205/55/16 tires. That with manual windows, no sunroof, larger brake option, and a 4.3 pretty much identifies it. The dealer could have added a wiper hatch, but they did not come with one

Pretty sure the GTUs didn't come with a sun roof

If you took the 5 seconds to read you'd see he said it was installed by the owner of the car..

The sunroof, rear wiper and "sleepy eye" headlight look ruins this... Along with anything else that has been replaced with aftermarket parts. It can all be reverted back to stock GTUs form, though.

It sounds like you have a real gtu-s that has been modified significantly. It would have diminished value due to the fact it is not original.

I don't care about original value lol I modified it that way it is now cause I wanted it like this. It just so happened to be a GTUs. **** it. I like my car. It's faster than the way it was when I bought it.

The sunroof is gay and came that way when I bought it. The rear wiper is sweet. And i like the sleepy eyes. That's why I adjusted them that way.

To each their own.

Why not post the VIN number?

It's nothing against you man, but I hate seeing rare cars like the GTUs go to waste because of modifications. Makes owning one stock more rare, but owning one that is modified not fun anymore.

Hope you enjoy the car though, if it is yours don't let anyone tell you what not to do as long as you're happy with it.

I can respect that. Didn't think it was legit anyway lol after finding out I would have liked to have left it alone but I'm so far along in the build now with no extra $$$ for another shell and lack of storage. I just said **** it and kept going. I'll post my vin up tomorrow when I'm workin on it btw. Again thanks for the help.
