Nothing to big, just thought some of you might like this: (from this article on speed hunters)

I followed the link at the end of the article, and came up with some more (the fc pics are here).
Notice the exhaust exit on the passenger door.

All he needs is some S5 tails and he's set.

It may be fast, but shoot...
Put some cosmetic effort into it!

Plus in a car that's raced often there isn't always room for cosmetics. Have to fix the parts that break and make sure the car performs well.

Do work battle machines like this car and DKs gold FC can be just as cool as a beautifully painted and fitted car sliding around the track.

There's a place for everything. Gotta love that mad max ****.

Good looks don't make you faster. (Though they can slow you down sometimes.) Besides, any cosmetic effort would be wasted at the end of every race. He'd be buying, repairing and/or repainting everything all the time. He'd be throwing away money which should be used to make it faster and more reliable. Not to mention testing, tuning, repairs, etc.

That FC is pure function, which is why I like it.

Oh I see.

Well, it certainly isn't the best FC. That's for SURE.

reminds me of some of the drift cars here, purpose built with cosmetics last, but drift cars tend to get hated on

I agree! Its a track/ race car. It was built to perform well. It looks like it would be extremely functional.

You can see that the large uneven holes were cut out of the bumper for more air to be forced into the engine bay area.

What I DON'T understand is why he decided to run it on stock suspension.
Maybe it was a class rule or something?

Not because they're beat up, but because they have body kits and are slammed. Some of us just don't like that look.

I don't care for drifting (or body kits or the slammed look), but if this were a drift car I wouldn't have anything bad to say about it. But drift cars usually have unnecessary body kits (which are often ill-fiiting and/or falling off). Those of us who are not into drifting simply do not understand this. They look like show cars that have been wrecked. To a racer, a body kit is simply non-functional dead weight.

This car has wide fenders so the tires fit (function). The bumper looks like it's from a stock bumper mold with a lip and modified air holes where it's needed (function). Nothing for show except maybe the wheels, but I'm sure they're functional too.

I'm not saying you drifters should go rip off your kits and big wheels. It's just a different way of thinking and s a different style which makes no sense to us non-drifting people. Drifting = Form+function. Racing = Function.

I doubt it's stock. There's hardly any body roll. It does seem a bit high, even for a race car. Though it looks like the fenders may have been cut, so that probably makes it look higher than it is.

edit: function-only drift car See? I like this, even though I don't like drifting.

+1

Have you ever driven or seen a car with r-comp tires on a track? that car would be dragging its nose on the ground braking into turns if it was on stock suspension. Ask any of the track racers on this forum, the only way to describe how they grip is inhuman.

And about drift cars, a lot of people have the kits fitted on nicely when they first get them but the problem with kits and being slammed is that if you touch a wall, theres goes the kit, if you go over a bump too low, there goes the kit. So they tend to zip-tie them so that when they hit the wall (dont try to be all hardass drifters, everyone hits the wall eventually), they have some surface scratches and fall off instead of smashing off a corner that makes you have to buy another 200$ bumper. 50$ in paint + $3.50 in zip-ties vs. 200$ bumper + 50$ paint sounds like a great deal to me.
