Questions about tools

So, i've come into some money recently, being christmas and all, and am wondering if some tools i've found will be appropriate for an FC.

This is an air compressor i saw at costco the other day, and i have to wonder if 1.3 hp is sufficient for an impact wrench, or for painting.

i also have a question about this jack and before you say it's not for the right weight limit, i've looked at costco, and the box in my store says it is tested to 3 tons, well above the weight limit of the FC. So i am just wondering if any of you have prior experience with this manufacturer.

My next question is about this engine stand, i'm not sure about the weight of the 13b, so if this stand will do, then i will just go ahead and get it, along with the adapter for the stand. I'm asking especially, because the adapter costs $15 more than the stand itself...

any information or advice about these tools would be appreciated.

Im not sure about the Air compressor but that jack will do since im using the one at Wal-Mart and its 2.5 tons capacity for only 30 bucks or so and try to get a 1 ton (1000 lbs) engine stand. Im not sure though but if you have a Harbor Freight store in your area try to go there. They're on sale right now on where I live for like 40 bucks + tax.

+1 for Harbor Freight. I got my engine stand, engine hoist and press from there. Pretty inexpensive.

I got my engine hoist from there also, hopefully I'll get the engine stand tomorrow. Maybe they have a good deal on air compressors also since its near New Years.

Everything's good, cept the compressor. You need a bigger one. I kept running out of pressure on one just like it when I bought it as a newbie.

well, glad i asked everyone first . Thanks for all the reply's i think i'll just go with the jack at costco, it's almost the same price as a similar model at harbor freight, however i'll get the stand, and maybe an engine crane harbor freight, there's one not too far away from me.

ya, that compressor wont do **** for painting, you need at least a 5.5 scfm, and about 1.8 - 2.2 hp. with about a 45 gallon tank 180 psi would be awsome. i know craftsman has a ton of good compressors, the one i REALLY REALLY REALLY want is 900$, well worth it for a damned good compressor.
my friend has that one, and is running a bead blaster cabinent, and has plumbing through his garage for air tools. badass setup.
something to consider.

peace

well, i'm only 16, so i obviously still live with my parents, i'm not sure they would really approve of me running pipes through their garage. I'll be lucky if i can convince them to let me get an engine hoist, lol.

ouch. like they always say "when youre young, you have more time than money, when youre old, you have more money than time"
then your best bet would to be to find a friend of the family who has a compressor and paint setup and either have them do it, or get them to teach you.
see, i dont have a welder, i dont know how to weld either, but a friend of the family (same one with the compressor) has it and is going to teach me and work on my datsun.

peace

Best investment by far is the air compressor. It is a great time saver. I got a 2.5 hp w/ about a 40 gal tank - and although it runs out of air w/ continual use, it's a great asset to have for almost any auto related project.
That, and a HomeDepot $100.00 air tool kit, and your ready to go.

TFitz.
