trust its a big difference, esp when you consider all the material that was in front of it, esp the flappers. I did mine with a dremel w/ cut off wheel and porting tip or whatever.

Well I've been working on a engine a little on the side. Still planning on S5 high comp - boost. I'm probably aiming for a miata to put the whole stock turbo setup in. After driving a friends rotary miata, im addicted.

Spent the last 3 days cleaning the most disgusting set of rotors I've ever seen. I'll keep this updated as I go, but I only have about 1 weekend out of every month to work with it so its not going to be done fast.

Pictures are thumbnails. Originals are WAY to big.

These were pulled from a motor that was SUPPOSED to have ~40k on a rebuild. Hah.

How they started. Disgusting. Poor babied motor...

^Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing - because you've got that huge simple green bottle next to it.

Simple green really dulled down. Probably 1:40-50 mixture. Soaked each of the rotors for ~12 hours.

I've used it on other aluminum stuff and it didn't leave any residue or stains, so I figure its ok for the bearings. After I scrubbed them, I (thoroughly) sprayed them down with carb cleaner to make sure their wasn't any simple left on them.

The only spot that really gave me trouble was the concave faces of the rotors. Just a side note, I didn't touch the sides of the rotors at all with a wire brush. Just steel wool. I went through about 3 brushes on the faces of the rotors though. The compression dish is the worst.

As they sit right now, the bearings have grease on them so the ambient moisture doesn't get to it.

Before I get any flamers about the simple green, it was a VERY diluted mixture. When I first mixed it, it was still clear with the water in it, no hint of green.

I've used it before, I know how it works.
