Right, the whole point of this is to avoid glare, so when you pass another car or a cop it won't blind them and **** em off. Next time your out driving around at night look for an Acura TSX, that's what this will look like. Bright but not glaring, the cutoff is visible on the concrete barricade for what looks like ever. I have been paying close attention and can spot a TSX coming from quite aways away cause the projector is so clear and vivid. I am also doing the "color mod" for the projectors to get a more vibrant cutoff, basically just space the lens 0.75mm.
The connectors came from The Retrofit Source, you can find a lot of neat stuff like upgraded lenses as well as ballasts etc...

I don't know what you're talking about with H4 connectors and what not but take a look at this typical "plug and play" HID kit:
See how the ballast gets power from the headlight plug? And the ballast powers the bulb?
All your doing is swapping out the crappy rebased ebay bulb with a real D2S bulb, the real bulb needs to be connected to the ballast using the converter. The only thing I'm changing is the bulb side wiring, the ballast should still be powered as it was. I have it wired so that the stock low beam signal actually trips a relay that's lets fresh +12v power the ballasts.

Looks great NJgreenbud. How much did everything cost you in the end? Would you be willing to replicate and sell? Or is it worth it to do myself (doesn't seem terribly involved).
If got some silvia projectors lying around that might be fun to play around with, but last time I looked they seemed a lot larger then the TSX projectors you modified.

Thanks guys. It wasn't too expensive overall, I had paid $100 for the HID kit, and $140 for the Projectors, bulbs and connectors. I used an extra set of old H6054 housings I had laying around but they're cheap enough anyways. $10 for JB Weld and that's about $250 total.

i remember years ago when those HID h4 kits where like $300 bucks lol
shika805 im thinking with 6k it will look great but being in socal (for those outside of socal, its a bitch out here to mod your car, typically you may get pulled over) you still have a higher risk of cops giving you bullshit because its expected that HID didnt come in ur car and they might question you for that. even if its legal swap they judge by color.

gotcha hyper... i will stick with the 4300k bulbs... i was doing some searching, the 6000k look a little too blue to me. I like it more of a bright white.
just to be on the safe side you know.
oh yea NJGreenBudd, what type of lenses you using with your TSX Projectors. Mine is coming with the Fresnel Lenses? you think the're will be a big difference from the clear versions???

I don't believe that REAL HID bulbs like NJ is using are offered in anything over 4300k as that is the sotck color. FWIW I have 6000k in my high beams and they are a little blue. Certianly nothing like the hundah tards are running arouns with though.

^ gotcha man, kinda too late now that i already bought my bulbs haha... my friend has 6000k in his M3, they look good but i'm not really the stand out kind of guy.
My buddies always say, that if i go 4300k i will never regret it, they'll always looks good, quality is best... nothing more than 6000k is good.
anybody know if there is a significant difference between the stock fresnel lens and the aftermarket clear lens for the TSX projectors?

Here is a pic from Theretrofitsource.com that's is supposed to show how much better their clear lenses are, stock lens on top:
But in doing my research for this project I saw plenty of comparisons between all sorts of setups with different bulbs, juiced ballasts, modified cutoff shields and clear lenses. The lenses do make a small difference but it depends on the initial quality of the stock lens. The TSX happens to have a very good quality lens, if you happen to get a lower quality fresnel lens than the aftermarket clear lens would make a bigger difference.
Anyways, just wait till you get it all sorted out and setup, you'll love the look and visabilty that a proper HID retrofit provides.
