I don't want bi xenon, and I don't need a high beam for inspection, inspection is seriously the least of my concerns with lighting. Honestly I would prefer to have a halogen low beam and HID high beam but I don't want it to look like this:

At least the TSX projector fits behind the lens and maintains a clean and almost stock appearance.

See the housing on the right with the TSX projector:

I think I'm gonna give it a shot using TSX projectors and those blacked out H4 housings, I'll post what it ends up looking like for sure.

i have hid headlights and foglights.

Do you guys think that you could run like this at night with out your head lights up and not to get pulled over? Looks like a lot of light.

h_block88 01-22-09 03:41 PM

to be honest i dont even care how is it look as long as i got both high and how , tis a popup headlight u only use it at night.

To be honest, although it was a good retro, that is still half assed and, to me, doesn't even remotely look "stock." It looks like someone bolted in a projector... because they did . The best 6054 retro i've seen was a guy that measured and cut a shield that fits snug around the projector and hides everything behind the lens.

NJGreenBudd 01-22-09 08:04 PM

It's the closest so far as to what I was thinking of. At least they have some type of housing around the projector itself to keep dirt and debris from collecting on the lens. However, I do agree that they should have used a shroud around the projector though. Or they could have at least painted it all silver or even black.

EJay, how do you plan to setup the Infiniti projectors? Are you using a housing or enclosure of some type for the projector? I really didn't understand what a "retrofit" was until this thread, now that I see the light I want to do it the right way so whats your setup gonna be like? Yours are frosted lens bi-xenon right?

I must admit my curiosity has been peaked, even though one of my ballasts crapped out a few months ago and I had to ship it back for an exchange. I have been driving around with some yellow Nokya H4's the last few trips in the 7.

EJayCe996 01-22-09 08:47 PM

I was actually lucky enough that my pair were one of the "clear" types. Unfortunately the SECOND day i got them a Philips screwdriver magically fell of my desk and nailed one of the lenses perfectly with the tip so there is a teenie tiny chip on one of them. Once I buy my Haltech I'm gonna buy the ultra clear replica lenses (http://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...27f8aabd9d1204) and basically have a setup similar to that TSX/6054... only a little more clean hopefully. The real trick is finding something to cover all the crap in the back since 6054 housings are shaped odd. We've done some rough measurements, and the TSX projector is close in size (length) to the FX35, and we know that fitment will be TIGHT in order to retain the ability for my lights to still pop up/down. Basically we're going to need to have the projector as close to the glass/plastic front of the housing as we can get it and may have to trim away/bend back some of the metal from that cross member that the headlight unit mounts to so the back of the projector/bulb/wires don't strike it.

NJGreenBudd 01-22-09 09:23 PM

yeah I didn't realize the projector was as long as it is. It looks like it sticks way out the back of the housing, as soon as I saw that I realized it might not clear the cross member thing. I still think I'm gonna give it a go with some TSX projectors, I have an extra set or two of H6054 laying around to mess with.

How do you get you're light to stay on through the ftp?
Did you have it rewired? Because I noticed that your fog lights are on too!
That can't possibly be stock wired could it?

NJGreenBudd 01-25-09 02:49 PM

Can't you turn your headlights on without flipping them up? All my FCs had the light switch on the side of the headlight up/down switch.

pull the retractor fuse under your hood, it turns on your headlight but keeps the motor from popping up the lights. only problem now you have to manually move them up...lol

Hypertek 01-25-09 05:03 PM

as good as those retros are, they just dont look cosmetically good, even tho they might have the best possible light output.

some low profile NSX headlights would be sweet

blimp 01-25-09 06:32 PM

I wired them up so i can still flip my headlights up and down while keeping the foglights on.

Lol, you whine about lenses, but those aren't even finished, if you look at the other pictures they have lenses in front of them anyways. Imo, the angry looking high beam with the proper projector looks miles better then a single low beam projector in a massive 7x6 housing. Like hypertek is saying NSX would be best best because of the side by side projectors.

NJGreenBudd 01-26-09 09:21 PM

The most recent pics in this thread show just a trim from the old 7x6, looks just like this:
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/...c/DSCF4871.jpg

Anyways, I like Chemical's setup, just think a different high beam might look better. I was trying to think of a way to do a similar dual projector setup, that NSX lamp looks pretty cool. I wonder if that would fit?

If I do the projector upgrade I will probably just use the tsx or TL units and some shrouds to make em look better in the housings. At this moment I just got my HIDs back in the 7 and don't plan to do much driving till spring anyways...

NJGreenBudd 01-28-09 09:52 AM

So I'm redoing my setup for sure now. I just got a pair of '06 TSX Projector housings, AMP to D2S adapters and some new Philips 85122+ 4300K bulbs for a wicked good deal; all of it for $140 shipped. I already have a few pairs of 7x6 housings laying around to mess with. I'll post pics of the results, including differences between the cutoff with and without the projectors.

Hypertek 01-28-09 02:06 PM

nsx headlights should fit since the 180sx uses the same 6054 housings
