watch this video. Look at the rollcage. Look what happens WITH a helmet on.

You think a Caged DD is safe with an unprotected dome???

clean! See edit for video.

IF you can find a rollbar that you KNOW you won't hit with your head then go for it, but a cage isn't very safe without a helmet.

just make sure there is no way your head will hit in the event of a rollover. Hell, you don't really need one unless you plan on rolling the car MANY, MANY TIMES!!!

How bout if you get T-boned and your head whips into the roll cage and breaks it open?

BTW, those arent Sportmax 962's that you linked Flipside.

Here's the damage:

See the grass? My head was about 2 inches away from it.

No roll bar of any style, helmet, or lap belt. All I had was the original s5 electric shoulder strap and an open sunroof/windows. My head never touched anything. I did, however, scratch the top of my left foot on the clutch pedal because I wasn't wearing any shoes. I had (very stupidly) removed my lap belts because I never used them. My pride was extremely bruised and suffered internal bleeding though.

Yeah, the FC was the first production car to get a 5 star rollover crash rating. Also, it's pretty hard to roll. Look at all the rolled FC coupes that have ever managed to roll, not one of them looks like a forced convertible, simply put your roof WON'T CAVE IN(unless you manage to flip AND fall down some considerable height at the same time or maybe roll it down a hill. A roll cage is just a head knocker and MAYBE a frame stiffener for better handling. They hurt more than they help. Now, a bar going inbetween the b-pillars for racing harness would add the safety of a harness and look good doing it, MUCH more functional.

yeah, I got awesome survival skills. In 8th grade I got hit by a Nissan Hard-body doing about 25mph. It broke my collar bone, but I broke out his entire grill. I got even with that mother ******. Sorry for the thread-jack.

Oh, I flipped mine doing 112 and locking up the brakes and pulling it off the road to avoid rear-ending a car or going head on with 4 others in a line. I got the full story in a blog on my myspace. Sorry again, I'm really bad about thread jacking.
