and yeah it will hit it if the antenna is up, but its as simple as turning off the radio and popping it open, or if you have the rubber replacement it is too short to make a difference.
If you had good struts that popped the truck open manually I would be concerned but, actually having to have the antenna up while going to the truck this has been the first time it happened.

Anybody have a part number or a place to purchase the rubber or stock spoiler?

If you had my aftermarket strut adaptor mated with new aftermarket struts (ask Juiceh), you'd be concerned. It's already happend to me with my S4 Vert with the stock Rubber duck bill spoiler on it (you can see in in the picture below in my signature).

But I am intrigued about how tall lthe antenna can be and still miss being hit by it. Case in point, I have an old school Harada power antenns that is very short compared to stock. It just might clear.

Anyway, that wing isn't a Mazda part. If it were, it's design would consider the antenna.

It's the WingsWest one that Mazdatrix sells. The picture that I put up of that wing on the Coup is from their web site. The picture of it on the Vert is from MazdaTrix. They sell for $250 per the WingsWest web site.

interesting, yeah I dunno bout my wing, my aunt was the original owner and said it came on the car when she purchased it brand new from the dealer, I doubt she would have looked around for a wing for the car, but I will have to check it out next time I' am by the dealer.

Had to be a dealer added option. I seriously doubt you'll find a Mazda part number for it. Doesn't take away the fact it looks awsome which is why I got one.

that true also could be a dealer option, yeah im usually not one for wings on car, but I have enjoyed this one due to how discrete it looks.

Do you have any pictures of the one you purchased installed on your vert?

Still preping it for installation. Low priority at the moment.

Keep us posted Hozz, I'm getting ready to paint my vert and I'd love to see as many options as possible. Though I can't decide on a color. Blaze red is nice, but I'm kicking around Nordic Green, white, yellow, possibly blue...or any other shade in a rainbow. For now I've got an MS hoodscoop, TII aero front lip and sideskirts, and I've got a S4 duckbill that I could put on there...but I'm not sure how much I like them on verts.

As you see in the picture in my signature, I have one on my S4 Vert and I really REALLY like it. I also get a number of positive comments on it. It really ties in nicely to the basic body lines with a visual extension to the rear

The primary heads up is to be sure and mount it so it tilts up as much as possible so as to minimize contact to the paint on the body on either side of the trunk lid.

The primary heads up is it also creates an issue with opening the trunk while the antenna is up. In this case, the upgrades I did to my trunk lid piston lifts is a mixed blessing.

On paint color, I'm a serious non-fan of changing from the basic color that the car came stock. So, I'd stay with either the stock Blaze Red of some other shade of Red to stay generally consistant. Market value of our cars really isn't all that much these days, but that value does take a hit when you make a drastic change to the color just on the surface areas.

Yeah I do really like the duckbill, it keeps with the general aesthetic "scheme" of the car. Thanks for the tip on angling the part. The forum member who owns the RB pedestal wing mentioned shaving the ends for the same reason...to keep them from slapping the body when the trunk closed.

I really like the simplicity of having nothing added to the rear of the car...so I don't know yet what I want. The only other wing I like more is the Racing Beat one...and good luck getting a hold of one of those.

I agree on keeping factory shades for all the reasons you brought up. If I changed color I'd want to do it right, get under the carpet, trunk, inner door and wells. Eventually I'll be rebuilding the engine and if I change from factory color I'd be content either having the engine compartment flat black or doing the best at matching the body color.

It's really a matter of how much work I want to put into it. The guy doing the paint is willing to let me help and learn. I need to replace the factory padding under the carpet anyway. So pulling the seats and carpet isn't a big deal, it's gonna happen regardless. I'm timing the paint job for when the top is being replaced, so hitting the area under the rear deck won't be a problem. I bought a S4 TII hood for my swap. It's Sunrise Red (or whatever the S4 shade is called). The hood will come off to paint both sides to match regardless of the color. No matter the color I want to remove all the trim and bumpers and paint them.

Overall, I'm taking this coat of paint as a learning experience. I want to learn to do my own body work and paint. If I'm not happy with the outcome I can do a more complete job when the engine is out for rebuild.

I do kinda like the white one, it looks like you loose your trunk with the red one. Or if it's bolted to the trunk lid it sure doesn't look secure

Unfortunately the stock rubbery 'sport' spoiler doesn't take well to paint.

I personally don't like how it would look on anything but a black 'vert.
I wasn't sure how it'd look either, but picked this up last night and gave it a try, let me know what ya'll think of it. I don't think its too bad. I'm reconditioning it with oil and its holding pretty good: Seriously though give me your opinions, and should I try to paint it?

I like it. The duckbill is tight imo. I have one I was gonna mount on my vert, but never did cause the stock bolts would be hard to do. I see you redid some bolts for it on the top. What did you use?

your gonna laugh, but i used masonry bolts (tap-cons), b/c (1) thats what held them on the donor car for the last 10yrs, and (2) they're water/rust proof. i painted them black. i drilled holes for the original horizontal guide bolts on the spoiler, then drilled out the holes on the top of the spoiler.
