out with the vert, in with the 10th AE

A few weeks ago I traded off my 1990 convertible (seen in the link below) for a 1995 Nissan PU and a 1999 SVT Contour.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=palo+duro

It did not last long before I was back in the rotary world though. Not like the six year break I took between my last two verts. Tonight I picked up a very rough 10th AE. It is absolutely filthy right now and has a busted hatch and a busted windshield (pissed off ex of the previous owner...) but there are a lot of things which are in surprisingly good shape. I have my work cut out on this one but I got a pretty good deal so I am ready for it.

These are horribly grainy night shots, but there will be better ones to come.

It will most likely be a fairly stock build. I will have to dig into the drive train a bit to determine its exact health which will also influence the end direction. Most of the plans will be developed as I go on this one.

For the price I paid I wasn't really too worried about the numbers. I will be testing it myself though and may even get that done this weekend.

I know, it is a shame. It will have to live without the bronze for awhile.

I will definitely keep that in mind. I have family in Illinois, Indiana and Pennsylvania so I am actually in that area sometimes.

It runs! And it runs fairly well all things considered.

The ignition switch is beyond broken, its torn apart. With how bad a lot of things are, there are a lot of positives. The seats are in relatively good condition for weathered leather. The driver's seat is much better than the original driver's seat in my last vert. A lot of the interior is actually in pretty good condition, just REALLY dirty and/or taken apart. I am hoping to at least replace the hatch this weekend and maybe the windshield too. I will be doing a lot of cleaning also. Every project has to start somewhere and this is a big one.

hm, a new dash harness should do the trick. new glass, and the paint is pretty common with the white.
all in all, if you can get it back to stock, youll have one hell of a nice car, oh, and please replace the airbox.

Good luck dude. Big ups for restoring a 10AE they are very deserving cars. If you are a real rotorhead you will have no problem with the massive project on your hands and you will not be bothered by the obsession it takes to restore one of these in proper fashion. I am about a year and 4months into the restoration on mine and i'm so close I can smell it!!

Seeing the hatch and windshield like that is a travesty.. I say we hunt down the bitch who did it and put a rotor through every window in her car and house.. That should just about make up for it right??
