Last time I drove an RX-8 at night I thought the cutoff was nice? It also had OEM HID's but I didn't really pay too close attention to it. I agree it might actually look better against a wall

well compare to other OEM HID, the rx8 is not the best. IMO.

Here is a pic against the garage door, well these are meant for Halogen and not HID. Non of these housing is going to offer you the OEM cutoff, unless you get the sakebomb HID Housing and Kit or DIY it.

Compare to a corolla cut off, sorry I dont have a clear pics of it.

Im trying to get a hold of my friends hella e-code housing, after that Hella DOT housing.

I am still trying to decide between an hid kit in the hella housings or just a higher wattage bulb in the hella housings or retrofitting the tsx projectors into an ebay housing.

Right now I just have some Silverstar H6054 bulbs that look pretty good but I know its a far cry from what it could be

I agree. Definitely not a cutoff I would run on the street. I'll hopefully be able to do my retrofit over the summer

^you guys will never go back to halogen or h4 HID bulb replacements.

plus knowning now all the new bi-xenon projectors out there, you can do a retrofit without losing your hi beams.

its worth the time and effort. and the visibility at night is downright comparison to none.

Very true. I've driven a few cars with HID's and it doesn't compare to halogens at all. My Kia will eventually get true Bi-Xenon but my retrofit for the FC will be low beam only. No real need for hi-beams since she won't be a daily.

EDIT: eBay is swarmed with Mercedes E55 Bi-Xenon projectors for under $100 for the set

Here is a side by side comparison of Cibie E-code housing and the Hella DOT Housing

The cibie cutoff on a non-reflective wall

Hella DOT Cutoff on a non-reflective wall

My next test subjects are: Hella e-codes, Ebay, Raybrig Housing, and maybe and hopefully some retrofit.

My RX8's HID cutoff is head and shoulders better than our Infiniti QX's HID cutoffs. I'm sure I can shoot you a pic also.

^^^I agree, just looks like eBay. Brody, against a non-reflective wall, both of those cutoffs look leaps better. Just curious if you re-aimed the lights at all or is that with factory/state legal aim?

To be honest I like the Cibie housing better, the beam and the cutoff seems smoother vs. the hella where the light cluster around. Is that the raybrig housing or autopal housing?

When they were on my FC, I had to re-aim them, As for those testing pictures, they weren't on the car, I just had the light powered up against a wall to show the cutoff.

Nice. Now I just need to find out what housings I have on my Turbo II. Last I looked I didn't see any markings on them but I know they aren't eBay specials either. Any way of telling if they are Hella or Cibie's? I imagine the Hella's have "Hella" on the glass?

oh, the auto pal seem like have bit of more glare to the right, while the raybrig looks like it has a sharp cutoff.

I have a set of raybrigs with silverstars, sharp cutoff, and wayyyy better than stock.
