A Newbie's Rebuilt Engine Starts!

I bought my first RX-7 last April, got the thing for $700 and towed it back to my house...Turned out the engine needed to be rebuilt, badly. Being that I have no previous automotive knowledge (read: the week I pulled the engine apart I did my first oil change on my van). I worked on it all summer long and got the engine back in about a week before school began, however after a full day of trying to start it and all it would do would sputter off of starting fluid I found out I had reversed the fuel lines because I did the whole rats nest removal. After that issue was fixed she started right up, it was quite the sight to behold at 11:30 one night. (not to mention the corksport exhaust that came on it is loud as can be)....

But here is a huge thanks for all the help I have gotten from rx7club forum, was it not for all of you this project likely would not have made it past the engine removal.

Link to a quick video of some pictures from the rebuild and a nice startup:
(made in windows movie maker so please excuse the perfect editing)

Again, Many Thanks to all those who have helped...

I'm just under 3k right now, and I've kept records of everything down to cans of spraypaint, but I still need to figure out why my brakes wont tighten up, I've tried bleeding them multiple times but the pedal still goes to the floor, hopefully I can get it up into running shape over the winter

Rebuild kit was from Rotary Aviation, I had the DVD from them to along with my friend who had the Atkins rebuild DVD (I recommend the Atkins over the Rotary Aviation). I had help occasionally like with pulling the engine and putting it back in from a couple of friends. I also had my roommate from school (willubandcompany) help me put together the shortblock in 2 days, but other than that it was all on my own.

you sir are awesome and an inspiration to all. also proves that Haynes manual was right that all you need to rebuild these motors is a rudimentary knowledge of mechanics and follow directions well. and a place to do it of course. lol great job!

That and it doesnt take any special tools me and a friend assembled the entire engine with tools you would find in ANY household, (barring the 54mm eccentric shaft nut). Its amazing how simple these engines are...
