New Paint for the FC!
As some of you guys prolly remember my RX7 got messed up on Gieger grade new years night a little over a year ago when it went into a 4 wheel drift and smacked the side of the mountain. I bent the front subframe, broke the passenger side front control arm, dented in the rocker sill, and broke two wheels.
Everything is fixed on the car and I had the rocker sill cut out, straightened, and rewelded back in flush so it wont have any filler. And now, the car is finally getting painted! Im keeping it the same color, Harbor Blue Metallic, and im using PPG DBC and the Concept Clear. Im not the one painting it cause I dont have the first clue in how to paint a car well, so its being done by Old School Auto Body & Restoration in Carson City. The base and everything is on and the car is coming along, color is just now being sprayed and I should have it back soon. Anyways, heres the pics of the progress. Let me know what you guys think!

Cool... EXCEPT!!!
What a lazy *** paint shop, it was more work to tape up the tails and FTP's then it would ave been to remove. Plus those edges will be the first place to fail on the new paintjob.. I assume the didn't sand there.........
I don't know what you are paying, but having painted several cars... I would make them do it right.

truth. I seen mold on both my fc's rear tailights...... I ATTACKED my gxl with simple green and disinfectant spray. Mold scares me.
I've never seen a control arm all twisted up like that before. Jesus. Broken swaybar endlink? Seen ALOT of those. Personally. Why the hell did mazda do that? Go from strong steel to weak *** poly?

Side moldings and taillights yeah but he shouldnt pay attention to the bumper and paint it separately, even the fogs are still on which will cause lack of paint.

It is all subjective to price. If he is paying $850 then the prep work looks appropriate.. More then that I would be throwing a fit...
I have painted several cars, and have taken the easy way out before (see above pictures) it's amazing where prep work (or lack there of) will cause a painjob to fail.. I can spray an amazing paintjob on a unsanded unprepped car, the thing is it will only last a few weeks.. On a well prepped car a paintjob can be timeless..

the lights and stuff were removed when he was spraying color. for the body work and stuff he wanted it all together to make sure all the fitment and stuff was gonna be good while he was sanding and spot priming. They also wanted to make sure the body lines would be straight and its way easier to spot on a complete car than in pieces. I should be getting it back in a day or two and will be sure to post up pics of the finished product.

Thanks guys! I do have a leak in my drivers side FTP lense that makes moisture build up inside of it, so i prolly just need to re seal it. The lenses them selves though luckily dont have any oxidation or anything on em so it shouldnt be too hard to clean up.

Thanks guys! im really excited about it. The paint and stuff alone was $850 full retail but i was able to hook the guy up through my work and saved $600. The labor alone was $2300, painting is expensive work to have done, but im really happy with the results!
