Anyone have one of these? I don't care much for the C/F look, but finding a used replacement surround for my early 87 idiot light cluster has been difficult. Since new OEM ones are $42 bucks from Mazdatrix and the plastic is kinda brittle, I might as well spend the extra $8 for C/F durability. How's the fitment on these, and will they fit over an 86-early 87 cluster (bottom slopes towards the driver)?

If not, anyone know if the clear plastic from a late 87-on cluster (top slopes towards the driver) will fit on an early 87 cluster? Used OEM surrounds seem to be more plentiful for the later units.

 

there is no reason to buy a used one unless it was purchased recently. you need to make sure you are using the right series surround as they are different and dont fit correctly on the opposite series. a lot of people have the CF ones, they seem to fit fine.

 

I have the CF one, fits fine.

 

I noticed your FC is an '87 according to your profile. That's the year the idiot light face changed. What does your idiot light cluster look like, this one,

You say you have the surround for the top example of idiot lights. I need one.

If you don't mind it being in three or four pieces without mounting tabs, maybe we could work something out...

I was asking Sunburn if the idiot light cluster he had looked like the top or bottom picture so I would know if the C/F surround will fit over my idiot light cluster. The website doesn't specifically say which style the C/F surround fits.

 

Mine is in one piece, but it is cracked in several places. I am looking for a stock one that is in good shape.

I was joking... mine's trashed.

I e-mailed the company. They say they only have one that fits the S5 (bottom) cluster, but they are working on a surrond to fit the S4 (top) cluster. They say it should be available "in a few weeks."

 

You can transfer the clear plastic on the front of the S5 idiot lights to the S4 for a proper fit.

Yeah, I thought I could. I haven't found an S5 plastic yet- the only S5 in any local junkyard got crushed recently. Thanks, Sunburn.
