New paint, clean and claybar'd
No i can tell. That's why I said it needs to be painted. I don't mind the skirts so much, and I'm not the idiot to suggest painting a rear diffuser.
The reason I suggest painting the lip is because bare cf lips make a car look incomplete, IMHO, and in terms of a front lip it doesn't compliment the human eye in terms of making the front bumper look lower/longer kn the front which is what a front lip is used to create.
Looks good don't get me wrong, just not my taste on the naked cf lip.

Think about it like this.. paints are chemically cured these days, like epoxy. While the paint is 'dry' after about a day, and can/should be knocked down (in most base/clear cases) with sanding, its still considered wet paint for some time. Ergo, its still soft and things can become attached to it. The surface also isn't glass smooth. Couple that with the fact that a lot of people doing their own painting are doing it in what is unlikely to be a pro-grade , extremely clean environment or paint booth. Bits of bug and trash that end up in your final coat can sometimes be gently 'removed' with claying.
Bottom line is if the car is going to leave its cocoon, especially if its single-stage.. you should clay it. Is It absolutely necessary? No, of course not. Different body shops will say many things.

ohhhh so thats gaurds red. That was one of the colors I was looking at, besides that crazy orange/red from the mazda3. (Paint code is somewhere around here.)
In the end if I repaint I've decided to keep with the Blaze Red, only do a dual stage with clear, none of this single stage BS.
Good to have my question answered. Now you need real pics to fully how off the hue of that red.

ive sprayed single stage paint for close to 20 years,Im talking a gallon or two per job not a small car like a RX7, always sanding and polishing it- never clay bar'd.
The red looks so good when its new. I like it with the black accents
