New FC Owner

Hey guys. I recently bought a 1991 Rx-7. It is my first car and I love it very much.

Here is some pics

I do have some questions about the car, and it would be great if someone could help me with it.

My first question is that my dash clock is not functional. The warning lights are all functional though, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

My second question is that i have auto door locks, and sometimes the factory alarm goes off at random times when i open the door, and it takes forever to shut off. I dont have the master key so that could be the problem, is there any way of disabling it?

Well I hope to get to know everyone better. Thanks!

Nice car. For the dash clock your fuse is probably shot. Check and if it's burnt out, replace it.

Oh and welcome to a world of anger and love!

Welcome

As for the clock, check the fuse first, if is not the fuse then it might be a clock itself. As for the door locks sometime when unlocking it doesnt disarm the car thus the alarm goes off. You will need to play around with it or check the relay for it.

so theres a seperate fuse for the clock itself? like i said all the warning lights on that panel work, and i thought they run off the same fuse. but if the clock has its own fuse, where would it be located?

thanks for the welcomes!

It should be under the dash, check the FAQ section and the FSM which you can download in the FAQ Section.

dude, i do wiring for my money, and let me tell you, **** those wiring diagrams. they make sense if you are a mechanical engineer.
pretty much, learn how to follow wires, then rule things out. and the fsm can be found in the faq section, its kinda hard to navigate, but once you get a hang of it....................its still confusing. LOL
dont be afraid to ask good questions, post picture, oh, and use the search key when in doubt.
so, have fun.

Probably the fuse is blown or you have cold solder joints on the clock/idiot light panel. its the solution, but which is the fuse for that part of the dash?

It should be under Illumination, 15A fuse.
If its a blown fuse then your guage cluster light doesnt come on neither does your HVAC (Heat Vent A/C) control and the clock.

If that is not the case, i think check the connection for the clock. If not get an After market deck which should have a clock display.

try the cold soldier the points. the previous owner did that to the idiot clock, everything works fine. Only time it was messed up was when i couldn't install a radio for jack because original harness was messed up. when i open the doors my idiot clock would be reset

I always found those wiring diagrams really easy to follow, certainly easier than a game of trace the wire trial and error.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
