Apparently you were just proven wrong. It's gone somewhere...whether it'll get back together is another story.

If you keep that pace, you are going to be back together in no time.

When you buy your clip....make sure you test compression and inspect new engine/clip/ peripherals first or onionscream will be right. Japan2la on the forums is reliable when it comes to engines....i think i read a while back he got somebody a clip too.

Good luck, although it seems like you got everything under control.

+1 on the camera.

haha ok well i have a camera but it would just take to long to upload them like that but i guess its time to start using it!! any way my plans right now is

buy jdm front clip
swap whole firewall
get all inerior carpet done
dash
wiring
motor parts
motor and trans (maybe street port it because its already going to be apart)
then little stuff

i already bought safc to tune it because standalone is waaaay to complicated for me and i dont wanna mess anything up!!! so yea dawicka what are somethings i should watch out for on the new motor?

Compression mainly. You need to either inspect the engine yourself or buy from a reliable seller. I bought my engine 3 years ago from a very reliable seller (corksport...but no longer imports engines from japan.) It finally died the end of last summer after about 2.5 yrs of abuse. It had between 120 and 125ish compression on all 6 faces when i bought it.

Run a search for testing compression.

Next is completeness. If you order from someone like japan2la, you are not going to have to worry about parts turning up missing. My biggest fear was that you were gonna order a cheap ebay or tiger japanese clip in questionable order.

Guys like napsterfreak15 and sen2(?)(build thread super good if i remember correctly) have rhd swaps and can probably be very helpful.

Before you purchase anything, run it by the forums first.

I hate seeing (once a ******* month or so) ..." woohoo i just ordered an s5 engine for my 1987 rx7, what do i need to do"... Short answer is "You are fucked" without lots of wiring and depinning or a standalone.

My advice..... Get a complete 110 psi or higher complete clip from japan2la for the appropriate series car. s5 car (1989-91), equals s5 front clip.

I also reccomend wiring the car to stock specs first to work out all the bugs. You will easily be able to do this with rhd harness coming with clip. Upgrade from there....

But... since you want to port first (one of my biggest regrets not doing this first when engine was out of car before i swapped it because it would still be together today run on sentence)

That way you wont have to worry about the unpredictibility of seals going at any time.

Rebuild it port it-then put it in the car. Done once..(not like me putting engine in car then pulling it 3yrs later cause i shoulda rebuilt it)

Research rebuild kits, as well.

Keep at it like you are doing, but i cant stress enough that you need to run all purchase decisions by us until you are completely sure of what you are doing. Thats what i did (s4 engine swap into 88se) and it made everything super easy.

I can reccomend one thing...TAKE EVERYTHING OFF THE CLIP!!! The easy part is making the car RHD. Its all the little things that will damn near kill you...

Also, why do you want to swap the entire firewall? Theres much easier ways. you can cause some serious damage to your car in doing that.

There is a RHD swap with all parts in the 2nd Gen For Sale Section. Good luck.

thanks every one for there in put! and i thought swapping the whole firewall would be much easier! because sen2 i have been researching and looking at your thread alot to see al the steps you took and stuff but it seems like you had to go thru alot of cutting and welding with the firewall! so what can i hurt exactly?

you also specified NOT to buy from tiger japanese why is this? bad expierence? because i looked at the one they have there but im kinda ify about it! so far i havent bought anything but i dont want to buy anything because i figure that it will all come with the front clip

sen2 what are some of the stuff you did or bought before you got your clip?

Why the hell are you taking off the sound deadening? Your car will be loud as hell without it, and about 5lbs lighter. Lol.

if you want to be PC, technically it would be 40lb lighter. but I agree - unless it's a full race car build, i'd keep it. the quality of life will be worth it.
