don't listen to the haters on the sound deadening removal.... from my experience most of the guys that are talkin' the **** can't even change their own oil....do what you want, it's your car.... i can't tell you how many people talked trash to me when i did it.... it isn't that much more loud.... like driving with your windows down (i left all my interior out as well... just dash and seats) it was about a 45 lb. loss in weight.... good rule of thumb is every 100 lbs lost is a 10th of a second gained..... if you are some place cold just pull the car outside and grab hammer and chisle.... i live in NY so it is cold enough to just chip it out lol....

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

good luck on the build

Nobody's "hating," - just providing feedback. And yes, a 10th of a second, good for on the track, practical when it's a daily driver? No.

well i havent updated in nearly a month tryin to get my stuff together for the build so here is an update!

i took bobbo's advice and stayed with lhd for many reasons one being insurance for me was going to sky rocket!

i finally got my turbo II and i havent taken pics of the motor yet he gave me the differential axles motor drive shaft trans seats a whole bunch of parts for a good price so i took it but here are some pics i started workin on the interior i got the dash back in and most of the carpet down and as you can tell by the pic i already fixed all the freakin splice wires he did and bought a new harness

here is before i cleaned the diff

here is after

before cleaned trans

after cleaned trans up a bit still need to scrub down a bit

^can any one tell me why the hell there is a spark plug in my trans?

ok well when i took off my lim i found this gunk crap in it does any one kno why or what this is? still usable?

PLEASE replace the coolant O-rings asap. Disintegrated o-rings are probably part of the "crap" you see in those holes. Its a real pain in the *** to take off the LIM just to replace them down the road.

Also, either
A) replace your front diff mount w/ a mazdaspeed competition mount and replace the trans and motor mounts as well
B) replace the trans/ motor mounts and install a pinion snubber above the diff.

This is much easier when **** is already out of the care and those components WILL fail you.

when you said to replace the oring do you mean the one in the rotor right?
can you tell me why the hole to the coolant passage was blocked on the lim?

link to mazdaspeed?

^I used degreaser on mine at first. Then bought some aluminum brightener and that worked much faster/efficient and leaves a like new finish. But it is potent ****, and will eat away/rust anything thats not aluminum, so masking is necessary.

Anyways nice progress.

Don't have any pics of it saved on my camera, but heres a phone one. Before I started on it, it was dirtier than yours, had lots of oil gunk and crap on it.

dunno if you're still debating about the tar removal or not.. but I stripped out all my interior and I noticed a pretty big difference when I removed the carpet.. but once the carpet was out, the removal of the tar had little to no effect on the amount of noise.. I really don't mind the noise, but then again I'm a teen who drives way too fast and plays music way too loud.. girls can only stand riding in my car for short trips.. haha

I didn't tell my insurance agent that my 7 was rhd until a year ago and when I did my insurance rate stayed the same. Different insurance companys must have different rules i guess.

Never change to a japanese vin. you can always take the one off the rhd dash and keep the usdm vin thats attached to the firewall

Does anybody live near this guy? He lives in Little Elm north of Dallas. He sold me the motor out of that car claiming it "only smoked a little at startup" and yet it smokes out my entire garage in 5 seconds. I let it run for 30 mins and it continues to POUR smoke the entire time. You can't see down my street or anything. It is the worst engine I have ever seen and I have replaced 10+ engines. It is so bad that oil was leaking out of my exhaust halfway down the car!!

He refuses to refund me any money since he is claiming the shipping company must have done something to the motor. Yeh right, I'm sure they took the motor apart while it was on the truck and damaged the oil seals.

How long do you need? I'm stuck here and you haven't offered anything real. I'm in the same boat I was in before I went through all the labor of swapping motors.
well imma see if i can pawn something or do something to get that money! i recently just started working so if you give me like 2 weeks or so to get my first paycheck i will send youit until i can get you the full money return!
He sent that message exactly a month ago! This guy is a SCAMMER!!!

how much did he take you for with the n/a out of his car???

people (especially noobs) need to learn not to fu** other people over in our little rotary community, if your engines blown don't try to pawn it off, just be honest and sell it cheap, remember the rotary community is very small

why did you completely dismantle the engine prior to removal? its like a 20 minute job prepping the engine to come out and Im sure it took you an entire day doing it the way you did
