My Fc and possible plans.

ok guys. heres the deal, i have a 1987 rx7 SE. all stock except for a few things. ie, short shifter that needs bushings, fog lights, filter and audio..

Late august i will be getting approximately 2700$ and i dont really know what i want to get for my 7. im thinking exhaust, and suspension.. but what kind and everything i cant decide... but im leaving it n/a for now. because i have to drive it to college.

so if u guys had a stock fc and 2700 to do what u want with.. what would you do to the rx7?

lemme know guys!

Buy a daily driver...

If your keeping it n/a for now, just go with suspension, wheels, and cool body things. IMO

comp check engine, if it needs a rebuild do it and street port.

If not then i would go about changing every fluid and filter in the vehical, any wore out suspention bushings (namely the wore out swaybar endlinks), replace all the vac lines and have the injectors rebuilt.

Then start on "mods".

work on 5/6th port activation system

Cold air intake (make yourself) down to where the windsheild washer fluild bottle is

Full exhaust (header, catback)

Fresh set of wires/plugs

set of Kyb/tokico shocks paired with Tanabe GF210 springs

Strut tower bars

Lightweight flywheel

"tints"

626 or Volvo lip

S5 tails

set of classy 16" wheels on good tires

Cut and rebuff the clear coat so it looks new-ish

And if you have any money left after that Get an Air fuel conroler of sorts and lean it out alittle bit to gain some more power.

that would be my N/A DD build....

5 lug + 4 pot brakes conversion, with turbo MC if desired
DTSS eliminators
wheels of your choice
tires of your choice
shock + springs or coilovers

If you go cheap with Mustang wheels or something, the above can be done for ~$1k.

Done. Forget the exhaust, its not going to make a huge difference on a stock N/A.

well i dont need a rebuild, the engine is fine, i have a full poly bushing kit. just need to install it.
im also going to stay with the s4 light. i like them. i had an s4 with s5 lights. they are nice but not my style. my paint right now is just primer.

lightweight flywheel sounds good, and dtss eliminator bushings as well, i will get a silicone hose kit to replace all hoses, strut tower bars also on list. still trying to figure out suspension.. and what to go with. 5 lug conversion also added to list.. fun part if finding it haha.

and ive been tempted to get a dd.. mbbe a little truck. or something.

If your car is just coated in primer right now then invest that money into a good paint job first. (Actually worry about reliability first, then paint the thing.)

In late August you will be getting $2700? You have to drive it to college? My advice is if that $2700 is student loan money, send it back. If it's scholarship money or anything other than a loan, do as you please.

its not loan money. i get to keep it and not pay it back. im tempted to get another little car and put the rx7 somewhere and tear off all the suspension and put my poly bushings on.. and fix my diff mount. otherwise its going to cost me. approx 640 bucks to drive to a class i have in rocklin for 16 weeks.

I would get coilovers first and foremost, and then do the rest of your suspension, such as camber arms and tension / tie rods. But that's just me, and that's what I would like to do with mine. I would also paint last.

I guess it also depends on what the end result of your car is going to be, or what you want to be able to do with it. What do you have in mind?

as for what i want to do with it? well.. i want form and function. i dont drag race.. doesnt take as much skill as course racing.. so i want to eventually take it to a track and race it there. but have all the comfort of a dd. besides the fact i can only take one person in it. haha. paint may not be last. because i have a friend who really wants to paint it. and he does it for a living. so it may not be far off.

IMO, something not huge and full of chrome lol, like some vert wheels or some other type of stock looking wheel, and at most some rota's.

As for spending your 2700, most of the stuff gear_grinder mentioned is just about what you should be getting (except the light flywheel, there kinda over priced unless you get one used), mainly b/c it’s a DD. I would get a front lip, shine diffuser, and RE replica wing also, if the budget permits.

@ What healing said about the exhaust is wrong; the biggest bolt-on upgrade you can do to a N/A is replacing the old clogged exhaust (especially if the exhaust is all original). Expect a 10-15hp gain. Some of which will be from recovering the HP your old exhaust is robbing.

I’ll post up a pic later but i have the GF210's, they are great, not too low, makes the car look the way it should have been from the factory.

Tokico Illuminas with Ground Control coilover kit and camber plates, rims, tires.. if you have money left, aluminum radiator, headers, CAI, strut bars, lightweight flywheel, clutch, steel braided brake lines, silicone hoses, new mounts (tranny, engine, diff), steel braided clutch line and oil cooler lines... just some stuff to consider. no way in hell you could afford all of that for $2700 but they're all nice lil goodies for your car.

coilovers and wheels = instant night and day difference.

lips and diffusers should be the finishing touches on a lowered car imo, a stock ride height car with lip and diffuser just doesnt look all that great, but a lowered stock car looks good enough.

yeah.. but i dont know if i wanna go straight into coilovers.. i live in a mountains.. and the roads suck here.... if i was going to just low and sweet. then yeah i hear ya.. but i want some comfort. but i suppose we will see.. if i can find a good deal on some coilovers. then why not.. and when i want wheels.. im picky. i want some nice legit wheels. mbbe some desmond regemasters.. i think thats why they are called.. those are nice.. but im still 4 lug.. so id have to settle with some crappy honda wheels lol XD fail...

Don't really see why everyone hates on rota's. You can get them for cheap and their good solid rims.
