My 91 convertible
not bad my man, like it a lot^ cool license plate... I heard that the rear strut brace for the vert is pointless though? I was explained that the vert was already structured with a strut bar within the chassis? (i just heard this... mind you)
I guess it wouldn't hurt to have it though... love the vert again man!

It has a small rip on the driver side. I'm getting it redone here in the next two months. I have half of the money saved up for it.
Before my roomate and I moved down here from NY, it was in great shape. Because of the warmer weather here, it was used everyday where it was sunny, and above 60 F.
@illtakeyochik: I bought the rear bar from Corksport. I bought it together with the front bar, as it was cheaper that way. There is no modification needed on the bar itself, just the plastic that covers up the spare tire and sides. Here's the link to the bar combo:
http://corksport.com/store/category/...sion_misc.html
$168 plus shipping for both bars.
On another note, my roomate had put in all Power Bass speakers except the headrests (which I'm working on). I'm also wiring in a new amp mounted underneath the spare tire (on that U brace) to help power the new speakers. Nothing big and fancy, just 120W, so the speakers are a bit louder.

Yeah my top is pretty much in the same shape, It's seems like every time I lowered it I could see the rips getting larger, A friend did good patch work to last me till I get it replaced, but I'm looking to hopefully have a shop do the top because I would like a decent warranty to go with it, but money is always a factor.
I thought about replacing my headrest speakers as well but they didn't seem like they were too easy to get too, I have the seats out while I'm redoing my carpet and would like to replace them if you have any tips for easily replacing them.

@ illtakeyochik: man that sucks you wrecked your TII. But I'm glad you didn't get rid of it all. TII powered vert is nice. I wish they made the Cabriolet over here. Then there would be no engine swap needed
the speakers in the head rest are actually pretty good, i had a 250watt amp hooked up to jus the four of them and they useto SCREAM... i mean seriously they were loud... i tried to replace them but it was jus too hard so i just left them and found the wiring for them under the seat and rerouted them to the amp..
Just got back from my week long trip to PA to visit some friends. I started running premix I bought from mazdatrix just before I left. So now after 1900 miles in one week (it's 880 miles to where my friend lives lol), I am quite impressed with how my car runs now.
The motor is much smoother then before. I haven't noticed any actual power difference, nor any gain/loss in economy. It does however smoke slighty more, which causes my rear bumper to become a slight yellow. So I have to clean that more often now.
I also have seen it makes my check engine light come on more often. It has come on before (just before hitting 50mph), but it does it more often (any speed). The engine light is from the O2 sensor (which is original), so I don't worry about it. I do check it once in a while to make sure it is still the O2sensor and not anything new.
Idemitsu (the kind I bought), says it prolongs engine life, and helps seal everything better. So I really don't mind the negatives (which really aren't so bad).
I should have taken a picture of my rear end before I washed it today. It looked like pillars of yellow coming up my rear bumper. haha
On a side note, this week I will take off the passenger headrest speakers, so I can start to figure out how to install new speakers.

got a few questions, how different are the vert chassis from coupes? I dont know much about verts, but where they just converted coupes or actually design intended to be verts? looks like the spare wheel is mounted in front of the rear struts, so is the trunk empty? Are they a well balanced chassis?

well the verts are slightly heavier, now there is a steel crossmember under the vert where the engine meets the tranni, they say you dont need it because the chassis is stiff enough but i kept mine or if now you can order a smaller one from the rx7 shops but again they say u dont need it, and that is coming from a guy who drifted his vert.... and the spare tire sits right behind the passenger and driver seat between the struts, but it sits under alot of plastics, so you cant see it. and the truck isnt that big but yea its pretty much empty unless you put the targa in there... so far ive found that the vert drifting wise is not as violent as the coupe/hatch rx7. personally i think you cant appreciate one until you own one and do to it what you want...
oh and its the same exact thing as the hatch rx7, the only difference is the top...
but look at these... they got alot of potential!!! they gorgeous!!

theyre pretty as hell.... but i wish i knew where i could find that little wing that kinda jus slightly glides off the back...

awesome to hear your vert made the trip with no problems or aggrivation, gives me hope that my car will do the same that easily. How many miles are currently on the car?
Yeah the verts are a blast, when I first found mine i didn't know how I would feel about the convertible and started thinking about trading for a coupe, but after that first summer and hittin the beach's in a nice convertible made me keep it for good.

They are actually 200 lbs lighter then the coupe. lol.
Everything else, I agree.
I have driven a coupe too, and I agree that they are each a bit different. In a coupe you def. feel the rear end swing a bit when you corner really hard. The vert, the front tends to dive in more.
@Hypertek: The vert is designed to be a real convertible. It was the first vert to have a fold in top that actually fit in its own space. Also one of the first full production models to have a CD player. I believe it was one of the first to have a fully heated rear window too.
@RxFuel: Yeah I made it with no problems. It was grumpy as hell though in the cold up in PA when starting lol. It now has 154503 on it, and the motor has about 41000 on it.
My only real problem with the vert is its vinyl top. It's a superb quality material to use, but it does rip with time. The seals around the top of the windows are also wearing out. But T-tops do that too, so I don't mind replacing them. It's just the top ripping that I'm worried about.
A good thing is, it's ripping in the same place on both sides, so I'm thinking of taking two long strips of vinyl and running it the whole length of the top. That way it looks uniform, and makes it look like it was designed like that. It's way better then spot patching lol.
Hopefully someday, I'll actually get the whole top redone.
